>>74370753

>In a statement about the LP, Godspeed You! Black Emperor wrote that Luciferian Towers was "informed by the following grand demands": "an end to foreign invasions," "an end to borders," "the total dismantling of the prison-industrial complex" "healthcare, housing, food and water acknowledged as an inalienable human right" and "the expert fuckers who broke this world never get to speak again."
Really makes me think
wtf I love godspeed now
>>74370655
>"an end to foreign invasions"
>"an end to borders"
isn't this an oxymoron
prison-industrial complex is fucked up tho
Its google right?
>>74370546
Those are all overrated, so it's not wrong. I can think of more overrated albums though.
>>74370546
yes
It's wrong about Channel Orange.
> people buy records that they never listen to
> people download and keep music they never listen to
why do they do this? quality over quantity
In the past due to work and school I was only able to search for new music probably once every one or two months. So I would download a ton and over the next month or so listen to it, keeping what I liked.
I've never physically bought music I don't listen to, though. The closest are some library music records I have but I still pull those out from time to time.
>like one song by an artist you are otherwise unfamiliar with
>download entire discography of 14 albums

>library music records
any authentic Muzak?
I'm realizing that I haven't listened to very many albums from this year yet. So feel free to share your favourite releases from 2017 so far, all genres are welcome.
Pic related, one of my favourites
Mostly just the big releases. Not much else and the summer has just had a few really solid albums so it's been a lot of stuff that I've put on the back burner for a while.

Glad to see a little love for Packs, not my AOTY but good to see some love for it.
>>74370256
Forget is AOTY for me as well but you definetly should give GT Ultra - Guerilla Toss, Hug Of Thunder - Broken Social Scene and Ex Eye's Self-titled a listen if you haven't already
What are some albums with marine or nautical themes?
It's actually a very good album
>>74370315
This is essentially the electronic/hip-hop version of the Mollusk.
ITT: music you took way too long to get into
Smiths I guess i held off for a long time. But i mean they're not amazing, they're just ok.
Is this a Warp Records tribute album or just a ripoff for rocktards who pretend electronic music isn't real so don't know Warp?
>>74370158
Doesn't sound anything like Warp though you tool
>>74370200
>I've never listened to anything off Warp
There is nothing from Warp that sounds like the National Anthem.
Lollapalooza is on twitch right now.
If you participate in chat, don't say anything too mean. Mods will ban you.

Creature Comfort is dece
Is Jazz and classical pop? Isn't all music pop? What isn't pop music?
Pop is short for popular.
No idea how this is even an argument. Makes me scratch my head
>>74369867
Classical and Jazz is literally Popular music then you dipshit.
>>74369851
don't worry pop is just a meme term that doesn't mean anything.
House is a 35 year old genre that displays several characteristics similar to disco music with influences from soul and earlier r&b, produced by a synthesizer and from samples of disco or funk songs.
Techno is a 35 year old genre resulting from the melding of African American music including Chicago house, funk, electro, and electric jazz with music by artists such as Kraftwerk, Giorgio Moroder, and Yellow Magic Orchestra. This diverged into other styles including ambient, hardcore and IDM.
Breaks are a 30 year old genre which utilizes breaks, often sampled from earlier recordings in funk, jazz, and R&B, for the main rhythm and used in styles such as hip hop, jungle, drum and bass, hardcore, UK garage, 2-step, breakstep and dubstep and even pop and rock.
UKGarage is a 25 year old genre commonly feature 'chopped up' and time-shifted or pitch-shifted vocal samples complementing the underlying rhythmic structures which largely subsumed into other styles of music and production in the mid-2000s, including 2-step, dubstep, bassline and grime.
Downtempo is an umbrella term for several styles of electronic music (including trip hop, nu jazz, lounge) characterized by their mellow style and mid-tempo beats, emerged in the early and mid-1990s in "chill rooms" at dance clubs, where relaxing music was played to allow dancers a chance to "chill out" from the more emphatic and fast-tempo music played on the main dance floor.
Trance is gay, who cares.

I like electronic music too.
>hip hop is an independent massive genre (even though it's electronic music)
>house, techno, breaks, garage are all "electronic music"
Pardners crack me up I swear
Burial invented IDGarage
