he thinks he's actually going to succeed
he has a built in audience of impressionable kids, he could easily live off music if he chose to
>>74462255
Unironically this.
He probably is going to succeed because he has a huge young fanbase that praises everything he does regardless of how low-quality and generic it is.

>"I think we notice it most when we play festivals and you look at the lineup and number one: you don't know most of the bands on there."
>"Or, there used to be rock bands that used to take the reigns, but like you said there are a bunch of bands, often our friends bands, who are putting out records this year so hopefully collectively we can get something going."
>"It's like guitars are going extinct in a lot of ways. Now it's punk to learn upright bass or classical guitar or play on your computer really good
>"it's a new world right now, and sometimes I feel like a dinosaur but most of the time I'm just grateful that we got started before this transition started - I mean we're still firmly rooted in the world of guitar."
Is he right, is the guitar dying?
source? and yeah, he's probably right

Is MF DOOM the only hip-hop artist worth checking out?
He's one of very few, and the best of the lot as well. Memerap children will say otherwise in this thread but Madvillainy is the only hip hop album that deserves a score greater than 8/10.
No, he's pretty bad imo. His popularity is from adult swim kiddies who are impressed by zippity doo da lyrics. Try Gang Starr.

Does /mu/ actually edit albums in their music library? Do you add/remove/change the cover art to your liking? Or is this heresy as that particular work is no longer the artist's intended vision?
>>74461728
some reissues have awful or boring cover art so i'll opt for something else
>pic related is boring as fuck
>>74461769
what about adding or removing actual songs themselves?
>>74461728
I don't really bother changing album art. If I found something that looks amazing (or extremely better than the original), I might but I really don't care enough to look.
Picked em up today for 30. Am I memey yet?

Don't really use this website much. Most of the people that I meet irl that use this come off as pretentious music snobs but maybe y'all aren't all like that. I'm look for some recommendations when it comes to psychedelic rock and neo-psychedelia. Any albums or bands you guys like?
>>74461290
Kingston Wall is an awesome band. Especially their first and second albums.
MGMT Congratulations album
Flying Saucer Attack (noise rock but pretty psychedelic at times)
The people on this site will be far worse than anyone you meet, leave now, don't waste your life

Just go back to Plebbit and listen to fucking Salad Days recommendations on Youtube.
Where is the good white music these days?
I'm tired of having to choose between rap and whiny emo shit or bitch pop.
Dubstep used to be all over /b/, but I don't see music threads anymore. what's the successor to dubstep?

Looking for recs if i like Porter Robinson.
Love this guy's textures. I don't know shit about this style of music, but i want to know more artists with sounds like what he does. Don't give a shit about weeb-ness or whatever.
I've seen a few places classify his stuff as electro-pop, but i either knew the artists I've seen already or are of totally different vibes.
Basically looking for positive sounding electronic music, I guess. Preferably newer, as I'm looking for texture and have probably heard much of the classics from pre-2005
Bumpin. I know I'm using a surface level artist, but I'm hopeless in this.
Thanks for any real recommendations in advance.
>>74461761
>surface level artist
how fucking dare you
as if that even meant anything??
I don't particularly care for his newer stuff, but I'm pretty sure he links to stuff often on his twitter, so dig through that. There's obviously madeon who he's constantly compared to, though he has a poppier style. Still artsy and super authentic though. Porter linked this japanese net label on his twitter a while ago, maybe you'll like it:
https://twitter.com/porterrobinson/status/525775296591458304
http://maltinerecords.cs8.biz/137.html
soundcloud is littered with people trying to imitate his style, you can find a lot ""worldsy"" tracks pop up on the porterrobinson sub on reddit occasionally. Good luck
FUCK you for degrading his/any music for being """surface level""" whatever the fuck that means
>>74462118
Haha don't normally ask for recs if i like one that have dozens of million views on youtube.
Not trying to sound hip or whatever, but I realized he must be really popular in his genre. Kinda felt like it'd be asking for recs if I liked wu tang, ya know?
Will check out all you posted. Really do appreciate it
