The Pop Group - Y
>>74602742
>Weezer 4.5
There's no hope for you
Why is this album so underrated?
Nobody talks about this gem which was arguably responsible for kicking off the white noise/vacuum cleaner sound, later perfected by MBV in Loveless.
Even their next album's pretty great despite changing genres.
One of my favorite albums ever, serious consideration for all time favorite
>>74602730
I just can't hear it, I like the album some but I've always struggled to understand the massive amounts of praise it gets...it's just way too clean and polished for me
>psychocandy
>underrated
>muh shoegaze
no. Darklands is underrated
>spend years listening to music, developing my taste by listening to various genres and artists
>feel confident enough to post my taste on /mu/
>everyone laughs at it and calls me a pleb with a shit taste
>getting offended because someone called you a pleb because your music taste
>Caring about the opinion of people on a website full of hyper-argumentative edgelords
Get some self confidence son
>trying to use mu to talk about music you like instead of music you hate
>I can dig the Ramones and the Birthday Party and the Stooges and SPK and Minor Threat and Whitehouse and Link Wray and Chrome and Pere Ubu and Rudimentary Peni and 4-Skins and Throbbing Gristle and Skrewdriver and the Ex and Minimal Man and US Chaos and Gang Green and Tommi Stumpff and the Swans and Bad Brains all at the same time, and if you can't then fuck you. I don't give two splats of an old negro junkie's vomit for your politico-philosophical treatises, kiddies. I like noise. I like bigass vicious noise that makes my head spin. I wanna feel it whipping through me like a fucking jolt. We're so dilapidated and crushed by our pathetic existence we need it like a fix. Robin Gecht hacked up a bunch of whores in Chicago for it. Gacy strangled buttboys for it. Dean Corll killed 27 (or more) schoolkids for it. Imagine the bang--not just fucking (which is about as severe a sensation as most people get), but fucking little boys. Poor little innocents who have never done anything bad to anyone, and here's this savage splitting them asswise. And he kills them. Mean killings, like with an oxy-acetalyne cutting torch. Or a pissed-on straight razor. Buttfucking little boys while butchering them. That's how bad we need it. Me, I'm not that desperate yet. I stick with the noise. But an articulated noise that hangs there in your memory and causes further damage. These guys I knew in Montana really dug the whole ranch-hand aspect of the place. Ball cutting, ear notching, lip tattooing and skull crushing. Especially the skull crushing. They used to love to watch the cows die. It was either that or go home to the trailer park and watch their five half-naked siblings run around in the dirt. What would you do? Big Black is a way to get the old blood to boiling without having to buttfuck and garrotte little boys, or hang around slaughterhouses. It's as simple as that. I want to push myself, the music, the audience and everything involved as close to the precipice as possible.
He just uses pop structures with a bunch of shit and grime smeared on top
Still the best album Albini ever recorded.
he really is a fedora'd gentleman
Where is a good place to start in Bones' discography? Considering he's released so much, it seems like it'd be hard to find where to begin.

Listen to these in order
>Garbage (desu the best place to start with his sound)
>Rotten (more developed sound on the garbage ideas)
>Banshee (fucking beautiful)
>Unrendered (arguably his best work)
>then the danny brown feature, that shit was fire
isn't he that soundclound rapper whos gimmick is DUDE SCHOOL SHOOTINGS AESTHETIC LMAO
bc if that's the one you mean then the best place to start is not

Good list
Id also add Useless as an entry point and NoRedeemingQualities from this year
Does math rock is the popular genre in Japan?
Most of the Math Rock music I got came from them, Exception for tide/edit (Filipino math rock band) and American Football.
Japanese math isn't real math. It's just slightly angular j-rock.
>>74602580
Is Toe not real math rock?
I feel like most of the Japanese math rock artists are more popular outside of Japan
Breakup/Love songs
All genres
haha what are you, a faggot hahaha
why is this thread being posted over and over again, is it some kind of meme now?
same fucking post, same fucking pic

Someone's not taking a breakup too well apparently
I've used spotify before but commited to a long premium for the first time and got a new account to start fresh.
I'm wondering if people here know how to work the algorithm as effectively as possible. I understand that just by listening to music over time it will learn my taste but I'd like to have some additional control and tailor my suggestions as well as possible.
I searched for some of my favourite artists and followed them. I understand that following primarily serves to notify me of new content but does it also give them a boost on my "listening profile"? Should I play some of my favourite albums from the past few years on mute if I don't really want to listen to them but want to find similiar music? Does adding a song to my library weigh it heavier than just listening? Does adding do anything if I don't even listen to it? Does it make a difference if I skip a song after 10 seconds compared to listening the whole thing? Is there anything I can do if I hear a song that I absolutely hate? Any way to listen to songs I know are shit out of morbid curiosity without it factoring into my suggestions?
If you have any other tips not explicitly answering above questions I'd still love to hear them. Or just general tips on how to find good music, I found the discovery queue and artist's pick recommendations but that's about how far I've gotten. Not really looking for "check out this playlist" more universal tips on how to game the system based on my personal taste.
>>74602244
Do you know about the Discover Weekly and Release Radar playlists?
>>74602342
I know about Discover Weekly but I haven't heard of the other one, I'll google that. I also found out that pressing "next" within 30s to a track is considered a "thumbs down".
>>74602430
Release Radar is updated every Friday and it focuses on music that's been released in the past few weeks. Like Discover Weekly it is unique to your profile.
If you follow an artist, their new music will always appear in the playlist. I'm not a huge playlist guy, but it's a nice way to keep up with new releases.
>I keep it 300 like the Romans
>>74602132
300 in roman numerals is CCC
CCC means cool, calm and collected
It makes more sense that this is what he meant than to have confused Romans and Spartans because "I keep it 300" doesn't make a whole lot of sense as a statement, whereas "I keep it CCC" does

Kanye is a retarded nigger. You're thinking harder than he did.
It's amazing that this is even a thing.
Did no one in the creation process realise it was wrong
Or did they realise but not tell Kanye
Or did Kanye realise but choose to include it anyway
hey bubs, post your stuff. I'm at work, imaging about 400 computers, so I will be using the time while imaging to check out everything that's posted here. I will be giving constructive criticism!
ps check out my shit, I just uploaded 39 tracks that I made around 2010-2014. loads of speedcore, breakcore, techno, ambient, drone, glitch.

What songs/bands will help me in pretending that Kurt Cobain never died ?
>>74601724
Mudhoney
Wipers and Greg Sage's first solo album. Kurt took a lot of influence from them.
>>74601728
Which songs, specifically, if any in particular?
Is this elaborate b8 or is electronic music really more varied and expansive than guitar music?
Honestly I think it's beyond stupid to have no subgenres of rock or metal, but still list edm, techno, house and such. Basically those are all just subgenres of some sort of edm.
>>74601729
EDM isn't a genre.
Yes, but a lot of the variation in electronic music you wouldn't be able to tell unless you are an avid fan or someone explained it to you.
