what is the most patrician album on here?
One only needs to watch intently to see everyone who dislikes ITAOTS is a feral disease to the well-being of music discussion, and therefore, this site.
Moonlight on Vermont affected everybody
this is a dumb thread but ill give my thoughts anyway. Spiderland is the best. Runners up include Loveless and VU&N. MBDTF is absolute shit. American Football is good by super overrated.
So what does /mu/ think of the recent crunkcore revival?
I think it's pretty surprising that a genre originally made by rich white kids caught on so well among lower-middle-class black teens a decade after its original subcultured died out.
I mean who'd have thought that THESE guys would eventually inspired dozens of young rappers whose popularity now borders on mainstream? Pretty amazing if you ask me.
Anyway would you say that artists like $uicideboy$, Lil Pump, Scarlxrd and XXXtentacion are better or worse than their forebears (BrokeNcyde, Block Party Massacre, Amongst the Reckage etc..)
>>75097877
I still have a hard time believing that brokencyde wasn't ironic honestly
and those garbage rappers are definitely not inspired by crunkcore, maybe lil pump but probably not
>>75097944
then how come they use the same basic techniques, lyrical topics, vocal delivery and even the same fascination with shitty millenial anime?
>>75097993
cultural osmosis
I doubt they are entirely aware of their influences

How did this sell so good? I haven't heard anywhere, but it's putting up BIG streaming numbers.

>How did this sell so good?
Children.
Catering to kids to get dough to fuck grannies
I'm actually really surprised that /mu/ isn't worshipping him as the new messiah and parading his shit around like it's gold, considering Fantano has a huge personal grudge towards him and makes trigger warning videos about him lately.
I would have assumed by contrarian kneejerk effect he'd be the new best thing ever here.
I'm glad that /mu/ actually cares about music once in a while.
can we talk about how trash this album is?
it literally just got memed into existence by people spamming it on release until all the plebs on this board assumed that they were supposed to like it. it's a self-indulgent, unoriginal mess that only appeals to the teenagers who like to jerk off to themselves pretending to be "existential" and have never felt real emotion in their lives so need to have over-exaggerated "feelings" spoon-fed to them by a whiny pretentious fuck.
the only half-decent song on this album is deep, deep and even that is pretty shallow once you've listened to it more than twice. it's honestly laughable how many people have fallen for this emperors-new-clothes of an album. if you genuinely think this album is good, that's great, i'm happy for you, now go back to listening to your death grips and neutral milk hotel on the bus on the way to middle school.
>pleb detected
but seriously, its kind of all over the place, probably not deserving of the praise it gets, but its still a fantastic album
>>75106944
You're right, but the thing is everyone knows it and we still like it and ultimately people on a board like this enjoy having something in common so even if it's not the best album ever made, it's one you know other people here will share as an experience with you
>>75106944
>>75107373
The reason /mu/ worshipped this album back in the day is because of specific tracks.
Not the entire album as a whole.
It's meant to be listened with closed eyes letting the music transport you into some strange, emotional places.
For example i keep envisioning a huge empty football stadium at night for some of these tracks, for some reason.
It's basically a "i'm gonna relax and let the music carry me somewhere" kind of listen and not a "i'm going to sit down and hate the fuck out of this and it needs to convince me otherwise".
Is it overpraised and overhyped?
Yeah, sure.
But it's still really good for it's intended purpose.
