put a space between the slashes in your thread title in the future so my filter works, please
Here's my take. It's simply the best. It's everything you could ask out of post-hardcore. It has the Slint feel down completely without feeling like it's ripping them off. It's thoughtful, complex, and organic. It's not yet up its own ass like a lot of post rock, and it's not basic/noisy/aimless like later Fugazi. It's some beautiful middle ground between prog and post hardcore and it has the hooks and awesome vocals to back up the song writing.
I don't remember thinking the rest of their albums were nearly as good as this album. Thoughts? Thoughts on the rest of their oeuvre?

June of 44 doesn't get the credit it deserves. It is one of the best math rock bands period. And, featuring Rodan's musicians, it's really on the ground floor of the whole genre.
Some of their work is easily on par with Spiderland.
I think Four Great Points is the band's magnum opus. Tropics is still excellent though. The only weak June album is that last one.

Does anyone remember the song Switchfoot - Meant to Live?
"We were meant to live for so much more, but we lost ourselves"
I just thought this song was cheesy when it came out, but holy shit. I was in like 6th grade or some shit. All the cool kids were listening to Rancid or Alkaline Trio or Children of Bodom or something like that. But holy shit, I heard this song on the radio today and I almost started crying. This song is so good; the lyrics are so relatable.

lol wtf is this gay shit
I've never believed for a second that the My Chemical Romance story was over. I am 100% certain they will be back some day. When they reform I'll just say "of course they have."
>>74572304
Yeah probably and they'll go on as a disappointing nostalgia act playing summer outdoor venue tours with like Taking Back Sunday
>>74572483
m8, do you know that tbs never went away? they kept on carrying on. about 2 years ago they did a tour with the used which may be a bit of a nostalgia grab, but the last 2 have been really different. 2nd to last one sounds much more mature and insanely depressing, last one sounds like a budget against me.
we wuz kangs? let's find out!

Is that muslimgauze?
>>74572220
lyricist jinn, he was everywhere on the news in 2014
>>74572220
Unrelated but muslimgauze is super good but I don't really dig the political message being beaten over my head on every recording. Any recs for similar shit minus that?
What do you guys think of the album "Awaken, My Love?"
I think that he's doing some really nice 70s black funk genres that really should resurface these days. I also really like that most of the instruments are actually played, making it feel more realistic with hearing the guitar/bass player's fingers move.
>>74572171
2 good songs and thats it
connan mockasin did this better on caramel
>>74572283
yeah, i can see that. actually almost seems like he copied the flow a bit
Feels more like he took styles of George Clinton and jam funk artists from the 70s and did bonafide covers of sounds he enjoys rather then take inspiration from them and incorporate elements into his styles from Because The Internet and Camp.
If the album went the same route as Redbone and Me and Your Mama it could've been an 8/10 but as it is its a 5/10 for being average as fuck.
>underrated musicians
I never see Stephen Morris get the praise he deserves
He was a sick drummer in Joy Division and early New Order and also key in developing the latter's path into top class electronic&dance music
>>74572147
That classic sound is not up to him, it was martin hannett (their producer) that fucked with the drums without stephen morris' permission
>>74572236
Listen to live performances and his drumming loses nothing
>>74572340
It really does. The only thing that really made the drumming any different was that unique sound which was down to the production rather than his skill. He's still a great drummer but totally overshadowed by hannett
Hello guys.
I need some advice that possibly can be given by fellow singers/singerettes.
I'm a decent singer, I can manage myself singing fairly difficult stuff and different types of things.
But I could never achieve a specific and well known distorted/broken timbre.
Examples: Paul McCartney at Oh Darling choruses.
Julian Casablancas (The Strokes) every now and then.
A little bit different one: Jeff Buckley at the end of Grace.
Trying to learn how to do that, I learnt how to distort my voice in the bluesy, twanged/nasal way (in a healthy way, btw). But I can seem to grasp the specific technique needed to do these other kind of vocal distortions.
Anybody knows how to do this and can give some good advice for me to try?
Bump with a pic of a silhouette who sings 2 octavas wide 1/16s
I can see that my brilliant images and smart-written texts don't appeal to you, fellow singers
Final bump before dying in my bed
I'm a good person, what will I listen too?
nothing, or numetal.
the kill yourself
Listen "The Kill Yourselfs"

Music is a Jewish psy-op.
Music was made up in the year 1910 by Jewish marxists and they revised history to make music seem important even though whites have never sung or made music in there lives before 1910 because music is degenerate.
Hitler, knowing music is evil, made his soldiers march to silence during parades and gassed anybody who whistled in public.
The worst part about this post is that you used a Rick and Morty image
this sounds like a good plot for a concept album
