Traditionally, we've done:
>Poll 1: nominate 6 players from the existing roster to be "on notice"
>Poll 2: nominate 6 players from a big list of suggested new players to potentially join the team (suggestions are gathered from various threads and then compiled in this poll so the board chooses the best of the worst)
>Poll 3: from a list of the 6 on notice old players and 6 nominated suggested players, choose 6 players to be in the team in the upcoming season (this usually resulted in 3 on notice players surviving and 3 flavor of the month rookies joining)

This was a great way of doing it and worked for years. For some reason, the skipped the middle part, so we had less say in what poll 3 looked like. It's a weird deviation from how we do things and I want to know why they changed it. I don't see an obvious benefit to taking more power away from the board.
