I thought so too, but after seeing brony conventions and a variety of kid schools, I don't think there's alot of kids who is a fan of MLP. They just watch it, but not a fan of it, considering they don't even fully understans the concept. They still prefer their human barbie dolls.

Bronies still spends a tad more towards ponies and it goes as far as to the point where a company made a 3d printed pony toys to sell to places where only fans would seem to know about, and their homepage has a big link that leads to just for those toys.

Knowing that bronies are more influencial, I'd say there's more bronies that is a fan of MLP, than little girls who consider themselves a fan and not just watching it because it's what's on tv.

Second. No matter what, you can aim for the moon and end up with mars. In other words you can not always expect when dealing with marketing, creating and displaying your art that your intended audience will be the only audience. We live in a digital age where people more than ever are connected but just a mouse and keyboard. This was no where near as prevalent in the 80's or 90's as it is today. Instead of thinking like Notch (Im too scared of making games that make it big) Embrace it, Accept it, and be proud that you created something that brings joy to may people around the world. Not many can say that. And this speaks for any artist or creator.
