It doesn't feel Christmassy in the slightest. It sounds like a bland song from the show with Christmas lyrics tossed in. There's specific components that I hear and make me think of Christmas and this completely fails at it.

The main problem I have with "12 Days of Christmas" was that it didn't try to be funnier, like making the presents increasingly ridiculous or having Pinkie deliver a punchline at the end.

Not at all. Content creators can definitely have personal passion and interest behind what they create. Faust's initial development of MLP fits into that category, as do many cartoons and shows in general. Spinoff merchandise like a christmas album on the other hand reeks of exploitive cashgrab mandated by the higher ups

Okay, sorry. Then let's just say I'm used to it.
I was a fan of anime for over 10 years, and let me tell you there's hardly a single title that isn't a desperate cashgrab.
I can just look past it I guess. And I for sure enjoy the album, and can think of whatever I want to about it.

It's just shameless commodification of values we hold dear and it has been done for decades now in this late capitalist culture that embodies the current zeitgeist.

I mean the show itself commodifies cute little ponies and innocent lessons about friendship to sell products. This is just the next step, but it seems more shameless here because of the quality of the songs (I liked a few but some like the Coal one were terrible and disappointing) and because it doesn't fit show lore. There didn't seem to be any real creativity or passion behind it.

I understand your feelings but it was to be expected.

Oh and Ingram did work on it.
