I think the perfect size for a pony would be around waist height.

When you consider their build and proportions a pony that is waste height to an adult would be pretty massive and weigh a great deal.

I like the size they have always been, which was relatively small compared to a 13 year old girl. They would be pretty tiny compared to an adult male.

The size chart someone worked out form the horrorshow that is Equestria girls seemed the most logical to me so far

Yep, the heads are the absolute biggest problem with the ponies if you keep the show proportions/ style on them. If you make them any larger they become giant headed monstrosities with eyeballs larger than a human head and hat is freaky beyond measure.

Personally I enjoy when artists adapt the pones to slightly more realistic styles the most

Not TOO realistic, but more so than you see in the show by far, but not so much they lose all their cartoon cuteness

Finding just the right mix is really hard and I absolutely love to pieces the art that manages to do it
