Hey guys, just wanted to comment that the Nightmare Night in Trottingham CYOA ended yesterday, and since I got positive responses (thanks to everyone who gave feedback in the thread, by the way) I'll continue with the project I had in mind.

The idea is that the nightmare night quest acts as a prologue of a longer story, to set up the characters and central plot. The idea, for those who don't know, is for the MC to solve mysteries in the town of Trottingham while slowly getting to the resolution of the main conflict. A mix of slice of life, mystery and aventure, think of shows like Torchwood, Fringe, Gravity Falls, any sort of town based supernatural show. Also drawing inspiration from Curwhibbles a little in thematic and perhaps execution.

In case this sounds interesting to anyone, you can read to the prologue >>25273925 which I think is short enough to be a fun, light read, and if you'd like to play or follow it, I'll probably start next Friday or Saturday. I'm not exactly sure, but I think if I came up with this idea at all, it's been after reading some of it. Mostly the handling of characters, the conversations, and general pacing. Characters and set pieces are the things I've focused on this nightmare night quest. I can't remember exactly how/why it was broken, but I know that we beat some encounters way too easily.

I love how Innkeeper formalizes a post based on what most people want during the given time but at the same time doesn't go 100% of what was on the post and changes to make coherent.

This gives player freedom of action but put in a way for good green so it improves the story and characters while at the same time avoiding retardation.

Its a good balance.
