I do not hate Starsprinkle Gitterpants, but from what I've seen in various threads, people hate her because of one or more of the following:
-She doesn't fail at anything she does, and if she does fail then she still gets put in the clear/right.
-She's stealing the spotlight from the other characters
-She doesn't have many flaws and comes off as a Mary Sue
-For all the efforts to redeem her and make her part of the main cast, she doesn't interact with the other main characters very much.
-She's a knockoff of Baconhair
There's other reasons, but I can't think of them off the top of my head.

What you see here began as a series of comedy-centric stories with the concept of an alicorn-ascended Princess Applejack trying to change a mismanaged Equestria for the better by humorously interacting with the other, quite lazy, princesses. Plus late night pink antics.
Not to mention a whole bunch of Changelings with nothing better to do but cause mischief.
The whole thing was set in motion by this gem:

For some reason, no matter how hard you try, you can't seem to find your own body in these memories.
>However, a set of images seems to reappear more often than others: a number of ponies enjoying a warm day out in the park, when suddenly, an abomination the size of a skyscraper breaks through the lines of the city, leaving a trail of devastation on its wake and heading straight for the defenseless citizens.
>Before you have time to scream, or react, another large creature shows up: it's a mare, her size no less imposing than that of the monster, leaping straight out of nowhere and in front of the bastard.
