Circumstances seem to conspire to keep Twilight from taking her friendships too much for granted. Even the ones from earlier in life that she... sort of did! Maybe it's continual influence from that Tree of Harmony. They've never quite figured out the mysteries present there, but then, they also seem fairly content that things are working out for the best, too. It's a comfort to know they ARE friends, though!
