I've been rewatching the whole show for the past few months and just got through season 5 and I can confirm it's the best season the show has ever had (except possibly 7, which I've barely seen any of). There are a few things I prefer about the earlier seasons, like having more focus on Twilight and having more episodes with songs, although those both have their trade-offs, and Pinkie Pie goes into screech mode a bit too often after season 3, but season 5 is just funnier, more clever, more interesting, and more emotional than any other. Even the Equestria Girls that came out that year wasn't that bad. The characters, aside from Pinkie, are written more subtly; season 1 feels like it's trying to beat into your head what each character's about, especially in episodes that feature all 6, and the chemistry isn't as developed. This is especially true in episodes from any of the first four seasons featuring or referencing the Elements of Harmony, where a pony's personality tends to be boiled down to just their element, some of which don't even fit that well. These are absent from season 5, aside from a subtle appearance in Friendship Games. The letters to Celestia/writing in the diary that used to take up two minutes of every episode disrespecting the audience's intelligence by explaining what any child could already pick up just by watching the episode are also gone. The claims that Twilight somehow lost her personality after becoming a princess are simply wrong. I think the reason people get that impression is that she has less screentime, a trend that's been building since season 1. As I said, it's unfortunate, but when she does get a few lines in she's still the same lovable dork as ever.

Have you guys rewatched season 1 recently?

I just rewatched it in its entirety for the first time since I got on the ride back in 2011. To be honest, it's not as good as we often times hold it up to be. Don't get me wrong, I like it, but it feels more liek it's just 'good'. I think the reason we view it in such a light is because, when it first came out, it was surprisingly good considering the franchise it came from. I believe that is why we view it in such a high regard.

I've gotten more enjoyment out of some of the more recent seasons, and season 7, than I did out of rewatching season 1.

Thoughts?

So a new toy story movie is coming out in 2019, and I had a thought, could mlp be put in the movie?

I think it would be a funny idea for a toy of the character to think its going to a little girl, but actually going to a grown man, and how the toy has to cope with living as a collection piece and not a little girls doll, but its probably not happening.

If you had the chance to put them in, what relevance would they have to the story?
