"I've done it! I've created a space-time transporter to dominate another world aside from Mobius, away from the prickly blue pest! Scratch! Grounder! Get in. We're going on a little trip!"
>>Short transportation sequence later
Scratch: "Where are we now, your maliciousness?"
Grounder: "It's so bright and colorful."
Robotnik: "It's absolutely wretched how sickeningly sappy this place is. It's missing the Robotnik touch of metal gray."
Scratch: "Look! That town is filled with... ponies?"
Grounder: "I always wanted one of those."
Scratch: "Since when?!"
Grounder: "Since now. Those things look so cute, er, I mean, in an evil way, right?"
Robotnik: "You want ponies?! You got it! Round up each and every one of those pony pests! We'll make them our literal workhorses to begin our glorious colonization! Ahahahahaha!!!"

Wes: "Hello there, your excellence. I'm afraid I've already beaten you to punch. My company has made a space-time doohickey of their own. Plus, your contraption is breaking a lot of patent laws that we've already cooked up long before."
Robotnik: "WHAT?! There can only be room for ONE crooked dictator in this world, Wesley, and I've already filled that position."
Wes: "Au contrary, Ivo, the positions have been filled long before you and I got here. Take my new partners for example. These fellows beside are living the salesmen's dream. These ponies are easy to suck- er, I mean, persuade in anything we throw their faces."
Grounder: "Wait, are you saying that there are other villains besides Robotnik in this colorful town."
Scratch: "I don't believe it. Nothing with such big round eyes and small bodies could possibly be as evil as his putridness, AH HA AH HAAA!"
Robotnik: "As surprisingly astute as my bolt-brained lackeys are for pointing out the possibility of another one of your tricks, the idea of fighting for territories between you AND whatever wicked creature comes my way sounds titillating. Ok, you dumbbots. Change of plans. We're going to comb this place of any, er, PONY as devious as I am that dares go against my magnificence. Once they are out of the way, we can set out to build MY utopia! Ahahahahaha!

That's the prompt that started it all. So what is thread about? It's about Anon bringing human science and inventions to Equestria and a disbelieving Twilight. Although, that's not necessarily the prompt you need to follow if writing is what you desire.

^That's not best pony. Pic related.the one on the right
The death of MLP came with a bang. The gunshot fired by hack M.A. Larson. One shot wasn't enough for him though, he emptied five shots into the body of the once great show, and of those shots, Slice of Life was the most fatal.
Whereas the great episodes of this show were brave, bold, and fresh coming from a little girls show, Larson was stuck in the past, and a past he frankly couldn't understand. To him, MLP was not about a new frontier. They were not about ponies looking for a fresh start, succeeding or failing for various reasons. They even lack the ability to subtly subvert genre stereotypes and archetypes like Amy Keating Rogers would, and fail to even satisfy basic genre requirements of proper thrills and entertainment like a Dave Polsky episode would.
Instead, what episodes like Slice of Life represent is the value, or lack thereof, of cheap fan pandering. Larson's shows lack a world view. The stories are merely means to the end set pieces. Watch in Slice of Life as he incorporates the Pon3/Octavia gang merely as an excuse to have a set piece in which all of the memes get together and cruise ponyville on a huge speaker. Why? Because the bronies love them, and the cheapness of Hasbro at the time was dedicated to making copycat of everything popular in the fandom at the time.
The episode is called "Slice of Life", and in doing so he reveals his motivations as a businessman, not an artist. The only reason this episode has scope comes through Larson's use of characters unrelated to the main story of the show, and yet anyone bothering to pay attention notices how Larson betrays his own story by cutting into Gummy spouting randumb humor, simply because he's such an unimaginative hack. One can't completely blame him though, his writing skills is as empty as the souls of Hasbro.
Truly robbing the episode of any fun it seeks to admit is a tired story about nothing. Whereas The Last Roundup showed caution at romanticizing fandom memes, Larson revels in it, because it's all his cheap bag of tricks has. The adventure itself isn't particularly adventurous anyways. This is a 21 min show that spends most of its time lobbying around in rooms as characters try con the audience out of a desire for any actual forward momentum. Whenever this doesn't work, Larson throws in Background character #23
What was once a beautiful show that turned out some of the best and most influential cartoons modern animation has to offer, Larson kills it and puts it back to the artistic value of a penny dreadful. His only reason for success comes at the opportunity of his episode coinciding with the supposed death of the show. Had Twilicorn arrived later, Larson would have been properly rejected for his cheap hack writing methods. Instead he is improperly regarded as a hero of MLP, when he is nothing more than a hack. Yet the biggest offense is that his shows are so boring in spite of their indulgence to cheapness. At least the others made their trash fun.
