The cool air flows past your face. It really is quite peaceful up here.

You pull out an old letter given to you by your master. Some of the words have gotten smeared and smudged while being tucked away.

I am incredibly lucky to have you as an apprentice, and I hope you're having a great time studying in Equestria. However, I fear that you've not yet grasped the true meaning of your work. You may know your studies better than any other student, but to truly know what a culture is about, you must immerse yourself in said culture. Books are not exactly a great substitute for real life experiences. So, I have a proposition for you. I've an old friend who lives in the badlands, and he's willing to teach you all he knows about the way of life in one of the least studied places of the world! I believe it'll be good for you. In this envelope is the location of his house. Take this to a runner, and they'll be able to get you there. You don't have to go, but I highly suggest you do.

You let out a sigh.
The Badlands aren't exactly as glorious as the hills and forests of Equestria, but Dee's never given you bad advice before.
So, a few days ago you decided to take up the offer and packed for your trip.
Now, you're nearing the entrance to the almost completely unknown world of the Badlands.
The balloon touches the ground. Small huts and tents are set up about place, with quite a few ponies and various races bustling about.
>"'ere we are! Tha Badlands! Well, almost. Hope tha trip wasn't too boring for ya, uh... Ahm sorry, aye can't remember yer name."
The fiery unicorn pilot chuckles.

It's always a snowy night in Equestria when they schedule it! Well, barring a sudden emergency/disaster. But the system usually works! And that means some brisk winter weather in Ponyville. How many snowponies have been constructed? How many snowball fights have been had? It hasn't been too long since the season began, but ponies can play pretty hard!

Meeting back up with friends after visiting family or even just whatever private observations at home for the holiday is something to look forward to! Comparing notes and anecdotes is a nice shared activity to enjoy gathered together around a fire, drinking cocoa, watching the stars, or whatever's entertaining on a winter's night. And showing off the gifts!

Just because Hearth's Warming is over doesn't mean the spirit of the holiday is. Friends and family are still visiting, gifts are being enjoyed, and it's close enough to the beginning of the next calendar year that it'd almost be a waste not to party all week! And sure enough, that's what many ponies are doing!
