**RANGED GROUPBUILD**

Build/paint a kit (Gundam/Frame Arms/etc) with a loadout focused on long ranged combat! Sniper Rifles, Artillery Cannons, Missile Launchers, Funnels/Bits, and Miniguns are all fair game. You may also include a back-up melee weapons (Like a combat knife or beam saber) with your build, but it shouldn't overshadow your ranged equipment

More clarification here:

It collects HGs as memorobilia and not for the model hobby aspect of it. Well thats what it says now, itself had given painting a go years ago and it turned out shit and itself gave up. It doesn't like the look of paint on a kit and took panel lines off of some gundam figurines. It just can't get past the initial failure that comes with modeling, itself gives up and holds resent. Anyone who puts more work into a kit than itself would is a tryhard and a fag to itself, even its kunlets. It flips out if you remind itself about how he once lost parts down the drain of his sink.

I don't use flow improver, but I do thin them a lot. They can be tricky to spray (especially the gloss), but I'm starting to get the hang of it.

/m/, I'm thinking of a recolor for my next MG, Char's Zaku II 2.0.
The idea is just to add some more red trim to the body, using the same shade of red as the backpack.

What do you guys think of pic related?
Any ideas on how the red can be distributed better?

Just my opinion, but I think the contrast of deep red and pink is a bit too much. It works with the backpack because that's on top of a a much darker shade, and it's a fairly small surface area anyway.

Everything's undergated.
This is a problem on the wings though, since you can't undergate a part with both sides exposed. Might wanna dig out the old Gundam marker for that.

only thing that sucks is the trigger hands. They can't hold the beam rifle too well or it's at least annoying to try to get the kit hold it firmly.

Notice how Char's colours on your mockup all utilize a similar tone? Try aiming for something that compliments that.

Considering gundams are supposed to be 15-20 meters tall, I can't say I agree. 1/35 is perfect for armor, not so much for gunpla.

While I agree with you on actual Gundams, I think the Zaku is just as bad as the Gundam in terms of saturation. I would take any other Zeon grunt suit, and I say this as someone who buys Feddie suits primarily. I just don't like that it's the fiftieth Zaku kit, in a line that only has 26 releases. If it was another HG Zaku I'd shrug my shoulders and accept it despite the fact it'd be a regular release while everything else is P-Bandai, but making it a RG is going too far honestly. There's so much shit we still need in RG.

I think stuff like the Akatsuki and Testament are what third-party kits should be. Rather than just making cheap bootlegs of something you can already buy from Bandai, they should be exclusively suits that either don't exist at all yet or were P-Bandai. The biggest and best example I can think of would be the PG Phenex. It's a massive suit that was a rather limited (and expensive) P-Bandai release and rather than pay $1000 for it I think it's a good thing you can buy one from Daban for $200~ or whatever the asking price is. I think another more relevant example is the Jesta Cannon, I'm pretty sure a bunch of people bought the Daban MG because getting a hold of the P-Bandai MG was hard.

If you can, find models that include extra parts on Dalong.net or buy models that you like pieces to which don't cost much. Don't buy any model, buy with a goal in mind. Like "I want this GM to have lots of ranged guns" and then you say "what style of gun?" From there you look for models that have that type of gun. There's more than weaponry but that statement stands true for pieces as a whole.

Also, expect to do some scratch building if you want things to work, even just as far as some connections go. It may be slight, but it's often needed.

I've been disinterested in RGs for a while, just because I feel like the multiple shades of colors hasn't been as prominent as when the line started, so for me seeing the three shades of red on my personal favorite Zaku variant is exciting.

I dunno, it's just different strokes for different folks. I was upset with the Exia/00/Quant series, I wanted to start seeing lead suits from multiple AUs, and all we got is SEED (which I personally don't care for) and Wing Zero EW, which is sweet, but Wing TV would have been nice instead of that variant of Wing EW, or more 90's lead suits like God or X.

Yes. Buy the cheapest kits you can find, as long as they were made after 1988 (no glue/snap together kits began around that time). The easiest way is buy two or three different suits and combine them into one unique design. An example flying around here is the new GM/GM model redone with a Gundam head.
Aim for Build Fighter kits as they usually have extra bits. (Gundam The End pictured here is stupid as hell on it's own, but it has a ton of nifty parts that can be used elsewhere.)

Can't hold the shield up worth anything because of weight and hands eventually loosening. Head is proportioned retardedly nothing like the show or HGUC/derp face in a tiny helmet. Boosters are hollow and look horrible when posed with nozzles out. Upper arms are ball jointed to the shoulder: extra floppy/even rolly because it's not a peg/hole. Waist is a ball joint and depending on the positioning of the torso will flop to a side from weight. Torso to shoulders are polycaps and are too loose for the shoulder boosters and bazooka at once.

It's literally the 6th designed MG... Kinda shit now.

Finished it is good but looks odd/dated/cartoony compared to the HGUC.

Man, I kind of miss them doing those goofy SD that were like Romance of the Three Kingdoms characters but as Gundams, or ones with weird gimmicks like having a little dragon that turned into armor.

If you are going to use that dark red you either need to make the rest of the legs the maroon red or get rid of the cherry red entirely.

The maroon red clashes so hard with the darker cherry and I dont know how you could make a good 3 color color scheme on the zaku without JUST making the shield a different color than the body and legs+arms

Zeon suits look terrible with lots of panel lines, yet most zaku kits have them with the Origin zakus, RGs, and all the kits of the hideous 90s design.

The model kits sold like hotcakes, that's what matters most to Bandai.

The show was mixed. The TV ratings weren't great but as it was airing new episodes were available for streaming on Daisuke, and it's still on Japanese Amazon Prime and the like, but there's zero data available publicly on how it performed on streaming services. The reception was also mixed, /m/ likes to point to bitch threads on 2chan as proof Japanese hated it but at the same time live events were always sold out, the world and mechanics books were all high sellers, and the "radio shows" with the VAs were hugely successful.

Overall? I'd say it's a mixed reception but a success where it matters to Bandai/Sunrise.

Can anyone with experience tell me how the mecha musume plamo like FAGs and Megami Device is like out of the box? I'm going to paint the armor but painting skin sounds kind of daunting to me.

How durable is Vallejo Mecha Color?

I've had good experiences with Reaper paints both brushed on and airbrushed. Feels like Reaper paints are acrylics closer to Turner Acryl Gouache (which puts it much further different than Vallejo's gummy paints in general).

i've built an FAG before and i'm building an MD now. MD is a little more articulate, better color/parts separation i feel but less customizable.

I didnt paint the skin, just sanded down the nubs so they dont leave stress marks and then topcoat. But either way sand moving parts a little more after you remove nubs cause even without painting they are pretty tight

I've seen people put less, motors, speakers, and touch sensors into them and turn them into alarm clocks. How hard would that be for someone who has enough technical skills to build a computer? I know building a computer isn't a technically impressive feat but I have no other metric to measure my skills.
