The film was really good for other reasons, this time they've just made them look straight up worse so I have some trepidation in that regard but then again the designs weren't the movie's strongsuit. I'll have to see an actual trailer before getting excited, but i'm probably going to see it anyways

Not talking about the designs, but rather their plastic look and the way they move. They look too quick with no weight behind their movements, something the first movie did quite well. THAT'S what we need to wait for the real trailer to see. If they fix that, we're good.

I doubt that it will save the movie if the actual design still sucks. These new Jaeger have like zero personality (bland, cartoony, generic). And thats why the first PacRim worked so great, because the mechs felt like actual characters. Even Bays Decepticon goons have more charisma than these new Jaeger.

1. The writer is one of the worst in the buisness
2. The Director is unknown quantity thus far. Hint: Saying 'this is my chance to make a transformers movie' does not fill me with faith
3. I don't like what we have seen designs so far
4. Without Del Tor or Travis Beacham can it really retain any of the original vision of the show?
5. The cast was the weakest element of PR, but the cast this time around seems to be even worse.
6. I hate to say it, but I feel the decision to make Boyega the lead will torpedo the success in China the film will need to be a success.

This is the thing. I WANTED a sequel. I always saw PR was Del Toro playing it safe so the film was a success and saving the A-Material for the sequel. And interviews with del toro seemed to back that up. They cut some of the crazier things from the first script, to save for the sequel, had big plans for the precursors, etc.

Now we don't know if the movie will have any of that, and it seems the entire franchise has been handed to the F-team. It's like my wish was granted by the monkey's paw.
