It's very obscure and I've never been able to find any scans of it. It's hard to find references to it existing. Much less a translation.

In my case the "updated" themes weren't really "updated" all that well, and even if Diebuster was a separate work from Gunbuster, I would probably still dislike it due the characters, and weak plot.

Look I didn't dislike Nono because she wasn't Noriko. I didn't dislike Nono because she wasn't a Sadamoto designed girl in a leotard, who had no natural talent that over came it with hard work and guts.

I disliked Nono because she a was a pink haired, clumsy cutsey girl and was annoying. Yes I know that Noriko was just as cliche in her day as Nono is in the era she came out, but frankly to me that just further seals the deal. Somehow gunbuster made a cliche character standout, and yet diebuster failed in that regard.

This ultimately very subjective and will probably be torn apart, but hey, now you have at least have an example of one person not liking Diebuster for reasons other than

Gunbuster has some of my favorite scenes in anime, but the pacing is atrocious, like they just made shit up as they went along and didn't do any pre-planning.
Diebuster is kind of unmemorable, barring a couple bits, but it's solidly paced.
