Well, it would probably be way more productive and less likely to lose money than G-Reco was, so it's worth a shot, especially if Sunrise is going to keep up its "we actually give some fucks about developing the western/non-Japanese market" stance.

There are several issues with licensing Sentinel outright.

1. Japanese hate getting things outsourced. Bandai and Sunrise don't want to work on something that they don't wholly own; this is why Sega was such an ass about the Saturn, and why Sega of America was screwed over by the 32X.

2. Licensing the story means they can't make changes to the story, not without putting the actual author in charge of screenplay or scriptwriting. So padding is out of the question, and there's only enough in Sentinel for a 90-minute OVA.

3. The fact that it doesn't feature anything Zeon means it won't sell.

4. The fact that it goes so far as to offer a counterpoint to Zeon in the form of the New DeSides Lunarians means it won't sell.

In spite of what /m/ thinks of Japan's relationship with Zeon, the works featuring Zeon as the protagonist faction tend to sell less. Japan likes them most as the hotblooded, starry-eyed villains that just happen to have some good people in their ranls compared to the Federation's calmer yet bureaucratically stagnant nature who just happen to have some good people in their tanks.

I guess you could argue Missing Link but the main atory was a anall part of the game as a whole. For the most part, Zeon just a fun group of villains to have. Kind of like how people love Darth Vader as a villain because of how threatening in spite of his better days as Anakin.

Any good story needs a good villain, and Zeon just happens tonbe the most exciting out of all the Gundam villain factions.

Why recreate Ex-S, Zplus, MK-V or Xekuein and pay some sucker they don't like royalty, when they can just ask Katoki to redesign something in the same spirit? e.g. Delta Plus, Silver Bullet.
