Chapter 240: The Great Star Gold Rush Plan
Made a bad half-step translation for this chapter. But fuck it, at least I tried.
Raw file: http://www.mediafire.com/download/mu8d9lelda4csw5/
Folder: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/tqse326l8qair/
Fuyuki is watching a news report: a giant asteroid that's abundant in a type of Rare Metal worth 5 quadrillion yen (not exaggerating) is headed towards Earth.
"Space really is amazing."
Keroro is preoccupied with Gunpla building and messed up a decal.
Fuyuki asks if he's gonna get that 5 quadrillion or not. Keroro, in his own little world, says he's unconcerned with Pokopenian money.
"Decals are 80 yen..."
Fuyuki says he can buy 50 trillion Gunplas [the manga makes special note that these are at the cost of an HGUC Gundam] and Keroro falls in to a coma-like shock.
..and then springs into action telling the other platoon members about the asteroid and the Rare Metal.
Giroro's down, Tamama goes "Daitarn!" [Daitarn 3 also has a plot point about a newly discovered rare space metal, except it's found on Mars, and Daitarn itself is made out of it.]
Kululu, always the savvy one, pulls up a picture of the asteroid and basically goes "You talking about this?"
Keroro goes into a speech about how finding the metals on that asteroid is what they've been waiting for and the blood, sweat, the tears, laughs, fights, how it will make them super rich enough to make them buy anything, even the planet, and etc.
Tamama imagines owning the Nishizawa Group, Giroro imagines Natsumi swooning over him just because.
"This is our gold rush!"
"YEAAH! Let's do this right now, Keroro, and grab our dream (invasion)!"
Fuyuki: "Um.."
Fuyuki: "You forgot this..." "Wait, Sarge, are you guys going to that asteroid?"
Keroro begs him to keep it a secret to everyone and this is the best chance they have. Fuyuki obliges (but says under his breath that even with 5 quadrillion yen you can't buy the Earth)
Keroro: "Your name will go down in history!"
Fuyuki: "Haha, you're exaggerating.."
And they launch in search of the "treasure".
They approach make sure the asteroid. Kululu, after analyzing it, says that the metals wouldn't be worth 5 quadrillion yen, but 723 quadrillion yen. Cue freakouts.
Giroro, without talking: "Not enough!" "More! More!"... and accidentally signaled Mois. Oops!
Fuyuki tells Momoka about what the Keroro and the others are doing anyway, just keeping it a secret from Natsumi.
"The Sarge and the others might become richer than you guys!"
Momoka: "hehe"
Momoka: "That won't happen"
She then explains that due to the amount of pieces of the Rare Metal that fell to Earth(?), the market crashed on them, and Paul interjects that they're now just like regular rocks.
Mois apologizes for that misunderstanding there.
And here's chapter 241, this month's chapter. Getting to it sometime later.

Jumped the gun before posting DL link, sorry:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/cv41gq7nmziedxi
and that's all for now.
Picture from Mine Yoshizaki's twitter.
Anyway, I wonder how long it'd take to edit one of these short 8 page chapters...
>>13398826
And I forgot the picture.
Also, I found raws for volumes 24-26. There are a couple of new chapters compared to the Shounen Ace release, including the original pilot chapter with Keroro's proto design which has been retconned into the Batrakos units.
Looks like some are already having tons of fun kitbashing with the now-reissued KeroPla.
>>13398835
These, right?
http://www.nyaa.se/?page=view&tid=728549
Well, good. Tried to get it a couple days earlier, but the torrent and DDL links seem to have been already dead. Didn't even know it had the pilot chapter, either; you mind posting that one?

the only best milf.
so what's the context of that panel?
>>13404068
Aki shows them some sweets with free toys included that she received at work. Even Fuyuki seems to consider them nostalgic. Aki explains that it's a recreation of one that existed when she was a child. When Fuyuki gets that small character toy, he asks Aki about it, and then she explains that, although nowadays you get many characters from anime and games in that kind of thing, in the old ways there were many "nameless" prizes. Nameless robot, nameless animal, nameless car.
Anyway, Keroro pops up, calling the Hinata unfair for forgetting the freeloader of the family (Natsumi questions if a freeloader is part of the family). Aki gives him one too, and then Keroro asks from when was this edition. Aki tells him in secret, but right afterwards he blabbers to everyone that it's from 30 years ago.
>>13405166
thanks.
.. so, Aki blushing because they know how old was she?
>>13405408
It's not her exact age, but it would place her at best around mid 30s if 30 years ago was during her childhood.

This scene really reminds me of the manga's 1st Christmas special. The anime really shouldn't have removed the conclusion of that story...
>>13408037
And... the end.
>>13408045
The basic premise is that Natsumi had to observe a frog's life as a homework, but the frog turns out to be a rather odd alien sergeant... or rather an artificial android mimicking a certain alien sergeant according to the newest chapters of the manga.
>>13405425
that's kinda.. cute for a milf, embarrassed of her age although she's still hot.
>>13408055
>>13407926
Thanks. It's cool seeing his style before Keroro proper; I don't think any of Mine's other manga from the 90s, when he was just starting out, have even been scanned, or even been very widely available.
Wonder why he made them a little younger for the newer story, though. Probably to fit the tone of the chapter.Mari a cute.

>>13398515
Heh.
To clarify what's being referenced with the sweets themselves, they are literally Glico caramel candies, which have come with random toys since 1927, only a few years after the candy itself was introduced to the market.
I think I've figured out who the red girl in a Chinese dress in this image might be a reference to - Fan from Yie Ar Kung-Fu, an old 8-bit Konami game.
She wore a red Chinese dress with a dragon/snake-like pattern on the lower part of the outfit. Fan had untied hair though, but all these designs have differences from the originals in variable amounts.
>Next Release : Undecidedness
Maybe they'll pick it back up some day.
I'm subbing an episode... although this is going very slowly.
>>13420768
Maybe if more people email ComicWalker to bitch or something. Otherwise I don't see that happening anytime soon, personally.
A bunch of manga that was there at the English ComicWalker's launch also has that status, and looking at the English calendar, they seem to have dialed back their efforts as there are only scheduled updates for 2 manga in the next month, one being the full-color Gundam The Origin, and they've translated the Cross Ange manga before, but they're not even doing the IBO manga to coincide with them really trying to make an effort to get that show out in the west.
>>13421979
You're doing God's work.
i wish there's maid Natsumi figurine around.
we do have derpy powered natsumi & 'Angel' Natsumi so far, but there's no maid Natsumi yet.
As far as the "multiple episodes in one" episodes go, some of the gags/skits were better seperately in this episode (196), like the "invade the world with kotatsus" plan, discussing a plan involving words that people often confuse with each other, and the Live-action Keroro adaptation (pic related), but the first one (ep 74) was better as a whole imo, and the "family picture" ending was more warm, heartfelt, and most of all, unique, than yet another bathhouse thing and another misunderstanding involving the Japanese pronunciations of both "bathhouse" and "battle".
>>13429938
Only thing we can hope for is that a new anime comes sooner than later so we can get merch like that again. I'd kill for a new modern figure series of the girls in general and things like Nendos, too, and I'm not even a fig person.

Suite.
Put it up on Nyaa and I'll definitely help seed. For now, you can also get a Mega account and put it up there.
You can stick the ass file on Mediafire.
Here's the link to uploads for episode 272, both hardsubbed and raw + ass file.
https://mega.co.nz/#fm/ooN1nTBY
I attempted to keep the language like in the old localized manga (so "Natsumi-dono" becomes "Master Natsumi"). Keroro's "Gero" is kept, but "De Arimasu" isn't.
For Viper's "Gara" speech-tick, I kept it when it's used to indicate surprise or laughter, but it's not there when it's a sentence ender (I threw a couple of "rattle" into some of his sentences though to acknowledge his tick though).
If something is worded oddly or you notice a translation mistake I'd like your input.
>>13446899
Also, I forgot to say above, you should watch episode 215 before this one, since it introduces Tooru.
Episode 272 also is the last story where Wettle King/Wetoru King has a relevant role. Afterwards, he only gets a couple of cameos.

Just watched it. I'm impressed, your subbing is good. And you already seem to be better than 95-98% of all Keroro subbers ever. I trust you'd get obscure references and Gundam/MS names correctly too, us being here on /m/ and having discussed some of the former in these threads. But there still are a few kinks:
>The subbed file/video
The file that was the combined version of the subs and the video are both hardsubbed and is of lower quality than the raw. Please don't do hardsubs in 2015 - it should be .mkv softsubbed.
You should make the text just a little smaller. It's useful for fitting more dialogue on 1 or 2 lines if you need to.
>The timing
is okay/serviceable, but just a little slower off on quite a few parts. The dialogue should come up the -exact- moment the characters start talking.
>Spelling and grammar
Make sure you check through the file for spelling errors and such before a release. Like the unintentionally hilarious "an hero", said twice by Kogoro (556) and Tooru, is supposed to be "a hero", "Everthing", "Corageously", and you spelled "Sergeant" wrong at least one time.
>Translation
Characters using honorifics like Keroro and Dororo towards females should be "Miss [name]" or "Lady [name]". "Master" is on-point for males.
"Tooru's loved one is Rabbie" should be "The one Tooru loves is Rabbie".
No other problems I've found after first viewing.
Episode was good, too. Mexican standoffs in my anime? More likely than you think.
>>13451201
Alright, thanks for the comment. I've uploaded a new script fixing the mistakes you mentioned there, aside from the timing and font size, which will take longer to redo.
>The infamous 'drill' episode
>Shows the guys getting drilled up their butts but not the girls
Triggered. Studio 6 Keroro staff confirmed literally sexist.
>>13457615
i feel for you anon, as anime version sometimes tonned down the glorious Yoshizaki's work.
but generally studio 6 will answer:
> y-y-y-you can't show those illicit things to the kids, y-you know?
> y-y-y-you can't just show panty shot, tit's shot or any types of illicit things to the kids, you know??
btw the manga version have some warnings before reading online. because glorious Yoshizaki's work.
>>13457615
>>13457925
I don't think you can blame the studio for censorship stuff. Keroro was a Saturday morning anime during a lot of its run, and that limits stuff that can be shown. Heck, just look at how they cut Viper's cigar in his season 1 appearance, but in season 2, Viper big brother was shown with it, since it was airing at evening.
Besides, at least looking at the fanart posted online, it seems like a large part of the Japanese Keroro fanbase is female. The anime also seemed to purposefully pander to them compared to the manga - like how Tamama's crush on Keroro ends around vol.15 or so in the manga, but they add new scenes showing he still had a crush on Keroro when they adapted those chapters in the last season of the anime (in addition to other stuff in anime-only episodes).
There's also the Giroro/Kururu stuff. I think there's only one scene in the manga playing with that, but it becomes a recurring joke in later seasons of the anime.
Either way though, they did sometimes get away with a lot as far as fanservice goes for a late 00s morning show, like the episode were Keroro and the other shrink in the pool and there are some very detailed close ups of Natsumi's body in a bikini.
Comparison of the neighborhood around the Hinata's in some early episodes and in later ones. It's kind of odd that the nearby buildings stay the same, but everything else changes.
It also makes me notice how, in spite of those nearby buildings being consistent, they were NEVER plot relevant. with no neighbor characters or anything.
>>13457972
> purposefully pander
if that case they should pander more groups, not just them.
btw i imagine Angol Mois expression & pose as this when Keroro 'drilling' on her. just need drawfags to complete the imagination.
>>13460110
>if that case they should pander more groups, not just them.
Like I said, just because there aren't panty shots doesn't mean that there isn't fanservice. The way they drew Natsumi's body in a more detailed style in the vinyl pool episode was clearly meant to be fanservice.
>>13457972

Heck, just look at how they cut Viper's cigar in his season 1 appearance, but in season 2, Viper big brother was shown with it, since it was airing at evening.
And on TV Tokyo, nonetheless; who generally clamped down on 'objectionable' content on daytime after Eva, particularly when it aired on an evening timeslot, where kids were exposed to THAT kinda stuff.
>Either way though, they did sometimes get away with a lot as far as fanservice goes for a late 00s morning show.
No kidding. The other one that immediately comes to mind is the wake-up boob snuggle Aki gave to Fuyuki (ep 48).

Anyway, Keroro 273 has been subbed already by someone else, but 274 hasn't been subbed, right? I'll probably start working on it.
>>13475641
Yup, I have 273 and it's also in Dorkly's megas.
274's either not subbed or lost. Go ahead.
I was thinking, in addition to hitting up people around here for leads on references, it might be worth checking around /x/, since a lot of Keroro's UFO/UMA content is based on established stuff, like one time Momoka had some place made to get Fuyuki's interest, and the chandelier was shaped like Rods / Skyfish.
>>13481860
I remember being surprised that the space police emblem was based on a real UFO story (or rather a elaborate hoax).

I like how Alisa is using the design of the new anime. Although I kind of wish the movie 5 outfit had appeared more. Natsumi and Momoka ended up wearing their movie 5 outfits in the original tv show, but Alisa never did.

Also, that constant shit-eating grin.Kururururun~
>>13576746
Kururuko should have looked more like in Yoshizaki Mine's art. Her anime hair looks weird, since it looks like two big round twintails, rather than wavy hair.
Kind of odd that the Kururuko suit never popped up in the manga though.
Context:They put that thing on Keroro so he wouldn't literally get drunk with power during moist weather conditions, but it made him braindead.
>>13587434
What was Kururu talking about in the third panel on the left, anyway?
>>13590072
Shuji Nakamura and the blue LED.
>>13590213
Although, what likely will be remembered about that case in the end was that Nakamura was lying about not having received payment for the invention from his former company
>In 2001, Nakamura sued his former employer Nichia over his bonus for the discovery as a part of a series of lawsuits between Nichia and Nakamura with Nichia's US competitor Cree Inc.; they agreed in 2000 to jointly sue Nichia at the expense of Cree and Nakamura received stock options from Cree. Nakamura claimed that he received only ¥20,000 (≈US$180) for his discovery of "404 patent," though Nichia revealed that the company awarded him with promotions and bonuses of 62 million yen over 11 years and his annual salary reached 20 million yen when he quit Nichia.
>>13590222
>>13590213
Interesting. I thought it was another earlier 20th century (or previous) event being referenced, though looking at it now, the lights on his glasses make it a bit on the nose.
So this episode was the REAL reason why the then-one Dragon Ball was split into 7.
It's my new headcanon and nobody can stop me.
Does having your ears picked really feel that good?
>>13602114
it's a traditional japanese thing for consorts to do with the menand yes it does
I just noticed that the existing subs for episode 160 kind of make it unclear that Ouka is the Nishizawa heiress. There's a line from Paul that's supposed to be about her backstory, but he speaks in present tense, and the "heiress" part ended up translated as an ambiguous "mistress". When I watched that episode for the first time I thought it wasn't clear who was the actual Nishizawa heir and who had married into the family, but that ambiguity only exists due to the subs.
I kind of wish the anime had done more Street Fighter references in general with them, rather than the Char-VA jokes. There are still a couple of other anime-only Street Fighter references outside of episode 160 (like Ouka and Baio using Chun-li's and Ryu's special kick attacks in another episode and Paul wearing a red gi in movie 4), but there's far more added Char related references in the anime due to his VA (although I think they barely acknowledge that Ouka is voiced by Haman's VA. I think she used a Haman quote once somewhere and that was it).

Sitting like that does offer a close position to her 'place', though. In fact, Giroro ruined the whole plan in that ep of the chemical that made everyone around the world pick each others' ears because he didn't get to rest on Natsumi's legs while she did that to his.

>>13610646
In the show, I don't think so. There's this design from the movies, but I don't think it's console based.
She gets X-Box armor later in the manga though.

Christmas is coming, is everyone ready?
>>13630090
The 1st season of Keroro seemed to really fear getting sued. If it weren't for Jigen and the overall car scene, this Lupin here would be completely unrecognizable.
>>13639751
They gave them surfer voices in the dub, which is weird, considering Funimation handled the two 90s Lupin movies and several of the specials (and TWCFM).
>>13637137
Yep.
>>13639751
I wonder if there's another gag in their outfits.
>>13645628
I doubt it. I mean, remember what they did to what was supposed to be Lum's outfit? They were generally playing very safe with the references in the anime's 1st season. Later they get more "looser", but in the first season they seemed very careful to avoid making any of them really obvious aside from Gundam stuff.
The Eva and Yamato parodies probably avoided that because both have manga published by Kadokawa.
>>13648883
true, iirc they kept the da-cha talking, but yeah otherwise she's basically generic oni
Jigen looks like he's supposed to be in "kids in summer" gear?
>>13639751
Incidentally, Discotek finally licensed all of Lupin series II.
>>13648933
Nope. She did the "cha" thing in the manga, and also called people by "Honey", but they removed all that from the episode.
>>13648971
oh, I must be getting it mixed up with a later episode or something
>>13637137
Guess I should go the special route this year and watch ep 39, that, 192 (again) and 243 for a Green Christmas. Maybe throw in those chapters from volumes 3 and 17, too.
One more bump.unless something big happens, see y'all in another 2 months. Happy holidays.
