Because Terminator popularized robots (and to a larger extent, advanced technology) as agents of evil against God-fearing, fleshy beings.

Because they are popular with one of the social slave states we beat some 70 years ago.

Remember Pearl Harbor.
>>
>>12499326
because americans view robots as vehicles and tools.

What this board perceives as mecha are characters in their own right with personality and emotion regardless of whether they are sentient or not.

>>
>>12499406
>for some reason FROM thought we'd be offensded.
No, it's because the game uses the Presidential Seal commercially in an unapproved manner, which is illegal in the USA. Offense didn't enter into it.
>>
>>12503705
they could change it, it's not like no one had censored certain part of a game or movie so is acceptable in other country.

The head honchos of mass media would rather throw funding into tried and true money makers, thereby limiting growth of public interest in things outside of the status quo.

>>
I always thought it's because the majority of Americans don't see the appeal of having a robot as a character unless it has a personality. Robots and mechs are already tied down to questionably profitable genre media, and unless it's pretending to be people or has a "relatable human character", most people think it's silly. It's why, despite disliking giant robots, Americans still haul ass to see a Transformer movie every other summer. As for why Americans think that way, I have no idea.
>>12503499
It was #3 in the box office, which is a horrible place to debut when your competition is a kids movie that's been out for several weeks and Adam Sandler in "My Latest Cash Grab".
>>
>>12506849
Can you explain?

Because we've been in too many wars to find entertainment appeal in "distancing" ourselves from the bloodshed.

We'd rather kill the enemy with our own hands than the hands of a robot.

Note, this is on a entertainment aspect. Realistically, the American military loves indirect fire, drone strikes, etc. The American people on the other hand have a hard on for grunts who put eyeballs on the enemy before they kill them.

>these titans don't feel like your granddaddy's mech

That's probably because your granddaddy's mech would probably be able to step on a Titan.

Its not like theres an immensely popular mecha series from America that is designed for toy sales and remains beloved despite quality fluxes
>>
Our children cartoons have much stricter regulations when it comes to violence compared to Japan so we can't really do as much cool stuff as them with the concept of mechs. As far as adult oriented cartoons go everyone here just makes shitty animated sitcoms instead of something cool like that Spawn cartoon on HBO.

>because impractical, blah, blah, blah

Many would never understand the appeal of putting a lion on something. To be fair though, American's have lost appeal for most military hardware baring guns and Iron Man.

No more good Top Gun type films anymore.
No more Iron Eagles.

It's really sad.

Old Chinese saying goes 叶公好龙
Google it since I dunno how to explain the meaning and connotation, but it's pretty much what you want to say here.
>>
>>12515804

>Once in the state of Chu, there was a man named Ye Gong, who was crazy about dragons. In his house, the dragon pictures were almost attached to everything: walls with dragon pictures on, columns carved with dragon pictures, household appliance decorated with dragon pictures and so on.

>When hearing of the news that Ye was a big fan of dragons, a real dragon in Heaven then came to Ye's house. With its tail winding straight to the side of the main hall, the dragon raised his head into the window. At the sight of the real dragon, Ye Gong was taken aback by surprise. He was so frightened that he couldn't help trembling himself, and his face turned pale just like that he had lost his soul. And immediately he run away in a hurry.

>This fable ironically depicts the hypocrisy of Ye Gong because he was actually afraid of dragons, but he had pretended to like them.

>The above story was later summarized as an idiom: “叶公好龙”(Ye Gong Hao Long). The word “好” means "to like". Nowadays, this idiom is often used as an irony to describe those who act inconsistently with what they have said.
