those troopers on the right - those helmets, my dick
Man I'm really looking forward to the redlettermedia and Spoony reviews.
Is there even anyone apart from internet movie reviewers who still watches new blockbusters in this day and age?
>>12454251
It's Star Wars
I'll see it-
I'll have a great time-
I'll complain about the plot-
wank to the spaceships-
-and generally enjoy myself.
Anything from the Rebels/Republic side?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4UY64GfyovE
There will be a Star Wars livestream in 2 hours, we should get a good look at Battlefront gameplay among other things.
>>12454269
hahaha, fugg off, heretic
>>12454303
Good god, do you never get tired of this decade-old meme?
Roleplaying as an inquisitor from 40k stopped being funny ages ago.
And yet here you are, calling everything sexy "heresy" and posting Fuklaw pictures like it's still 2008. You'd think only a teenager who just got into 40k would find this amusing but you must be at least in your early 20s, most likely in your early 30s.
TIE fighters?!
>>12454320
>TIEs are all painted black
>same old model decades later
>>12454323
If they're not going to replace the Falcon, why replace the TIE? I mean we have decades-old fighter jets still in service in the real world.

Literally nostalgia bait the movie. That first shot is 1:1 from the first movie.
That's why I hate Abrams. He does the same thing he did with Star Trek. Build it all on nostalgia without any identity of it's own. I mean, that was the whole hook of Super 8.
>>12455426
It's probably just a ball with a little motorized head on it.
Just move the head towards where you want to go, and the ball starts rolling. From then on, you just have to make sure the head doesn't fall off.

Literally bait the post
>>12455508
That makes me want to join this empire and terrorize innocent people.
>>12455601
That's already a sizable step up from the prequels.
>>12455508
It looks... not bad? Some of the CGI doesn't look very finished, though for a teaser that's acceptable but hopefully there will be a bit more dust and grime in the final product.
Some weird things though; the X-wing pilot's helmet doesn't fit very snugly (you can see it sliding), so at least it's nice that they have cockpit mockups and not just green boxes. I liked the hovering TIE, but I'm not sure I'm convinced on the stark white on the radiator panels.
The new Star Destroyer model looks very interesting though, with a split upper/lower hull section towards the fore and a more protected reactor.
>>12455601
But have you seen the movie? Why are you bashing it already?
>>12455620
same reason other people who haven't seen it either are hyping it, would be my guess
I still think that forked lightsaber design is fugly as fuck.

I really liked this shot when I saw it in the trailer. It reminds you of the scale of these goddamn ships.
>>12455709
I was slightly annoyed because re-entry would have wrecked it.
But it looks so damn sweet that I'm really not mad.
>>12455720
Actually no, SDs are rated for atmospheric reentry, you knock one out of the space above a planet once in Rogue Squadron 2 and it crashed, and not only did it survive mostly in tact. a seemingly large amount of its crew survived AND was capable of launching its fighter and walker detachments.
>>12455720
> because re-entry would have wrecked it.
Well, it's entirely possible that there are redundant mechanisms that allow a ship of that size to maintain some structural integrity and slow its descent, as we saw (terribly) in RoTS.
Furthermore, ISDs were capable of reentry, though by the time of the civil war, they (particularly ISD-IIs and Tector variants) had become much larger and less agile in atmosphere compared to earlier Venators, Acclamators, and Victory I and IIs.
What's interesting is that in that shot all the major Barbettes housing the larger turbolasers along the flanks of the ship have either been destroyed or salvaged, so this is likely an ISD that had crash-landed quite a long time ago.
>>12455730
Here's a depiction of the battle in question.

>J.J.
>amazing space battles
After JJ Trek's paltry showings, I'm not keeping my fingers crossed. At least this way I can still be pleasantly surprised.
>>12455757
The cinematography in the trailer at least was an improvement.
Huh, so this is interesting. The "new" Tie fighter has either reverse-facing blasters, or the bottom section of their sphere is a rotating turret.
>>12455620
I'm not bashing it, I'm very sceptical. I didn't like Abrams previous movies and I'm just commenting on what I'm seeing. No need to get so butthurt over my posts.
>>12455775
Probably a swivel turret. from the looks of it.
>>12455782
It'd be interesting to see how dogfights go now that they can do this.
In other news, fatty star destroyer is love.
>>12455757
I liked his star trek stuff, especially the first one (minus his ridiculous lens flare).. The second movie's problem was more with it's crap script.
I can't watch the trailer without crying. I hate being a manchild.
>>12455757
Hey man, both Star Trek movies were pretty good and the only thing that is keeping that franchise somewhat relevant. If you think any of those Star Trek movies after Wrath of Khan are good you're high.
>>12455805

>>12455648
>BASED ABRAMS
If I ever see this shit said in earnest I'm going to lynch someone.
That cunt ruined Star Trek beyond revival by popularizing it as a mindless action movie.
>>12455814
And nothing of value was lost.
>>12455817
That's it anon, I'm going to kill JJ Abrams before this movie can be completed.
You brought this upon yourself.
>>12455827
Wait, wouldn't it be almost completed by now anyway and they're just doing the effects?
>>12455790
I won't tell you you're wrong for enjoying them or anything, but they're painfully bare of ship-to-ship combat. Every engagement is either a villainous ubership slapping its dick on a puny Federation vessel and disabling it in seconds, or full bombardment of a crippled target. Nothing with any suspense to it.
>>12455805
>both Star Trek movies were pretty good
The first one was an enjoyable popcorn action movie with some retro Star Trek elements. Into Darkness was "let's continue this reboot series by copy-pasting every significant moment from any Star Trek media ever into one god awful mishmash" and was only watchable for the 'totally' unintentional love story between Kirk and Spock.
I won't argue that any film other than Wrath of Khan had much in the way of cinematic merit (though I personally enjoy Undiscovered Country), but in spite of WoK being an amazingly well made film we now have a generation of newfags shitting on it for not being flashy enough and not having Humperdick Bandersnatch.

It's awfully clean, even the Clone Wars animated series made things look "dirtier" than this.
>>12455957
Have you seen an Imperial installation? Its fucking spotless.
>>12455814
Of the main people involved in the Star Trek reboot, he's probably the least guilty.
I'd say the bulk of the blame is best laid at the feet of the writing duo of Damon 'What Means This Decent Ending' Lindelof and Roberto 'Star Trek: Into Loose Change' Orci.
Cause really, the direction in those movies is mostly just passable if overly stylized. It's the writing that is the biggest stumbling block.
>>12455962
It may LOOK spotless but you can smell Tarkin's stench the minute you get on board!
>>12455968
