Mikimoto then Yas. my opinions are sadly pretty boring.
>dat giorno and bruno
That's not Kitazume. That's merely an imposter
There was a brief time, around when S-CRY-ed came out, when he could almost give his characters unique facial configurations. What happened?
I also have a fondness for Norio Shioyama's style.
Kinu Nishimura also worked on Gainer but I don't know who she designed, I'd love her to do more /m/ work though
>tfw yoshida won't draw porn but it doesn't matter because Inoue changed his style to look like his after working with sunrise
God Tier: Yoshida, Akiman
High Tier: Yasuhiko
Mid Tier: Shimamoto, Shirow, Otomo
Low Tier: Kimura, Nishigori, Mikimoto
Shit Tier: Sadamoto, Obari, Hirai
Just Kill Me: whoever's responsible for Muv Luv and Demonbane
>Fourth World anime never
>Koyasu Takehito as Orion
>Tesshō Genda as Highfather
>Wakamoto as the TIGER-FORCE AT THE CORE OF ALL THINGS
Every artist 'samefaces', that means nothing. And Yoshida is much more guilty of it than Yasuhiko.
Yeah it's not /m/, but you asked for my favorite.
Sameface isn't fatal when it's like YASUHIKO'S AMURO AND JESUS LOOK EXACTLY THE SAME!! and not difficulty to tell people apart within one show. On top of that his artstyle is distinctive enough that people think his fat faces or closed eye corners means looking the same as this or that Gundam character when they're just drawn with the same stylistic quirks.
Leiji Matsumoto, Haruhiko Mikimoto, and Yas are my top 3 character designers.
If I were to complain about that, then I would've detested anime and manga a long time ago. Almost every artist in that medium, even very well-known ones, do this to a large degree.
I'm not trying to defend Yas from this even if I really like his work, but I'm also saying he's not just guilty of this either.
'Sameface', i.e. a character's design being borrowed across different works similar to an actor or actress playing a role in different films, is acceptable (to me, at least) and has been around as long as Anime has - see Astroboy creator / Mangaka Tezuka Osamu's use of the 'Star System'. [http://tezukainenglish.com/wp/star-system/]
I believe Yas has said he uses the 'Star System' himself, but I can't recall where I read that.
My personal complaint against the practice would be Hirai's use of 'Sameface', i.e. identical facial characteristics with only hair color and varying styles to differentiate, for multiple characters within the same show. This is what >>12448355 is parodying.
Warning, pleb taste coming through~
Ooba Wakako and/or whoever else did art for the earlier Wild Arms games
I'll be honest here, there is nothing unique about Miyazaki's artstyle because it's all a retread of the 1970's when he started working. It's only "unique" to most people because they're casuals who don't want to watch anything older than from 2000 onward.
I respectfully disagree. I really like the warm colouring he utilizes and the fact that most of it has this pretty fantasy-ish vibe going on for it. Of course, you could still argue it's still not that unique, but I still think his artstyle in done in a manner that still stands out from most others in its own way.
I'm aware of that, but it doesn't always have to be from the same show to qualify. Doesn't mean his work is bad though, in fact I really like it as stated above.
That's the truth most people don't ever realize.
>but I still think his artstyle in done in a manner that still stands out from most others in its own way.
Like the fucked up little noses his characters have? That's the only unique trait I can see.
There are no 70s anime which look like Miyazaki and he was influenced by French comics more than anime/manga anyway. Stop shitposting you faggot nigger. His still is completely iconic.
Here comes the Takahata Defense Force. Still butthurt at his irrelevance as a director decades later I see. There is literally not more of a post-ironic meme opinion than hating Miyazaki and pretending Takahata produced anything worthwhile.
>my favourite Ghibli works are Only Yesterday, My Neighbour the Yamadas, I also enjoyed his previous works with world masterpiece theater, also here is a picture of myself
>There are no 70s anime which look like Miyazaki and he was influenced by French comics more than anime/manga anyway
>oh no I didn't copy this other guy in my field, I was influenced by something else outside of it I swear
Yeah right. Miyazaki aped Yokoyama so hard it's not even funny.
I initially got into Bebop just because of his art. His character designs are so full of life and individual personality. It's so good to see him doing something with a big diverse cast again on Kekkai Sensen this season.
