The problem is that finishing moves are less tolerable in Gundam than in other mecha shows. The fans who complain about this want fights to end in a a clever, unexpected manner, not with the same "5 minutes to end of episode" signal every single time.

Actually, the main problem here is that Jigen Haoh stuff aren't even finishing moves. In most of the fights, it's practically all Sekai does, instead of having him fight normally, then using the named moves when useful and such.

It's kind of like watching somebody play Street Fighter and all they do is spam fireballs and dragon punches. It might work, but it's pretty boring to watch.
