The Japanese call every type of machine "mecha". Thus, threads like this are permitted on /m/.
>>11803385
For some reason this reminds of Kikaider.
>>11804371
1938 vintage, mang.
>>11804103
>mecha
>object to it meaning giant robot
>object to it meaning machinery in general
Someone's sore today.
>>11804371
it was THE first giant robot
É NOIS QUE VOA BRUXÃO
>>11804415
I'm not sure if it was the first giant robot, but it certainly was the first giant robot serial.
>>11803385his robot brain needs beer
>>11804419
RUR, the thing that's credited with the term "robot" mentions some large ones in passing, but they're more man-made men than clinking clanking buckets of bolts
>>11804500
Oh no, I was talking about some turn of the century pictures I saw that depicted actual giant robots.

Funny that on how much advanced Sentinels are, Tony Stark made the Sentinel Mark VIII into a full blown mecha that needs a human pilot. Here's one battling the forces of hell.

Post anyway.

MS Girl version
Always loved this comic. the artwork was really neat. not /m/ related but the Manhattan Projects comic has a similar artstyle.
>>11807021
Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot also had a cartoon.
>>11807141
I was just delighted when the expansion made these fuckers even tougher.
On the upside, killing them in melee is satisfying enough to be worth the small damage you'll take.
>>11807159
I think all the new designs are shit.

>Non-japanese
>mecha
You know, he's actually got a point. Not that American mecha doesn't belong on here, because it does. But it's interesting to think that mecha is the Japanese making a loanword out of the English word mechanical and now it's come full circle and mecha is a now an English loanword of a Japanese term. Fucking language.
>>11807194
Nah. New Sectoids are pretty bad but only Chryssalids are truly shit. Everything else is a matter of personal preference.
>>11803380
>>11807204
Ok maybe I was being a tad harsh, the mutons are nice. Chryssalids are so fucking stupid. I want my two legged, fuck you in the ass machine back.
Also, have you noticed that Chyrssalids in the battlescape in the original xcom are black, but when you research a Chyrssalid corpse or catch one alive they are whitish silver.?
>>11807217
>Also, have you noticed that Chyrssalids in the battlescape in the original xcom are black, but when you research a Chyrssalid corpse or catch one alive they are whitish silver.?
I assume the Ufopaedia images just had very strong lightning. After all they are made in clinical conditions, lamps everywhere.
Or alternatively, the artist decided the chryssalid looks like shit if drawn pitch black so decided to make it shiny instead.
>>11807228
Never thought about that, even still those must be bright as fuck lights.
>>11807231
What is this from? A mod?
>>11807237
Yup, from one of the many amazing mods that you can install with openxcom.
>>11803385
Holy shit FUCK YEAH!
What is this image from? I loves me some X-51 but I've never seen this pic before.
>>11807617
One of the issues of Marvel fact files. You can't buy in the us. Some the issues have been ripped though.
>>11804422
It's kind of amazing how a character can go from Casshern to Bender in one series.
Fun fact : despite being a korean ripoff of Mazinger it was the first mecha show ever to use mocap controls for the robot, two years before Daimos.
>>11806974
Lol
Makes me wonder what that kit looks like when it's assembled. Got any pics of that?
>>11808024
"It is I, Dr. Mobius, transmitting from my dome-shaped... dome in the Forbidden Zone. A zone... that is, yes... forbidden to you!"
>>11808077
Then he ended up being the good guy all along. It was the best twist in Old World Blues.
Ian Mcques twitter is a gold mine for his drawings which mostly consist of transportation type mech.
>>11812568
My god. His ability to construct shapes with mass from a pile of scribblings is enviable.
Really /m/? I shouldn't be the first one to post an image of it.
>>11812675
Alternate end is the only thing I can think of anymore. On a more related note.. the original toy that came with the VHS tape had a bump on it. Attention to detail was god tier.
>>11812618
His shapes are pretty magical. Some of his drawings remind me of old Nihei art on a much smaller scale.
>>11812721
>His shapes are pretty magical.
We don't need to know about your personal life.
>>11807242
You just gave me a new reason to play it again.

>>11813998
this looks fucing awesome. is that the same artist that does the goon?
>>11803508
Now I want to read that.
Is there a way to download or read it online?Diz que sim, por favor...

Any pics of aliens and weapons?
>>11817802
>>11817808
I got a few. everything I have posted comes from one overhaul mod. The only thing that is from a different mod is the new firestorm picture.
>>11817818
In this overhaul mod you must research alien weapons first, then research the human equvilent which you can use after manufacturing it.

The two ships in the top left corner are ships from mods. Want me to post links for mods?
>>11817846
Sure.
>>11817861
Ok give me 10 minutes or so. Here is a new alien which can tank multiple grenades and about fifty plasma shots on rookie before dying. ( I am not noob at the game, initially i just wanted to try out the overall, but instead found myself wanting to playthrough the game.)
>>11817872
>can tank multiple grenades and about fifty plasma shots on rookie before dying
How the fuck do you kill it then?!
Do these guys count?

There is tons of other great mods too, but I don't have the time to list every mod I have. Also, a note of warning, weapon pack mods and some overhaul mods have too many useless weapons. Sure it is fun to try something new for a change, but a good portion of weapon mods suck.
Also, the mod I am using is called Xeno Operations mod. Bretty good except for some shit weapons.
>>11817896
Keep shooting and throwing explosives at it. Also, keep it distracted by a tank. Aliens love to focus on tanks.
>>11817898
There's even a bunch of variations like those different versions of Servo he was brainstorming, and Crow can transform into a high-speed form from that time they chucked him down the umbilicus
>>11807231
Holy crap, is that the alien that appears on the box cover and nowhere else in the game? I'm glad someone finally modded this guy in.
>>11818011
Yup it is, ironically nobody has made a mod yet with the dropship from the opening.
Look on the last few pages, robin is the guy making the mods and he is a sexy master of modding.
>>11803395
His body is just the suitcase suit from Iron Man 2.
>>11803404
Every time Tony's suit blew apart in IM3 I thought of Gizmoduck.
Guess what showed up on LoK's latest episode.
It's over 25 stories tall according to Korra.
