I honestly don't know what people think that HG is trying to appropriate later Macross shows. Robotech has a completely different story line which shows like Macross F and Delta just wouldn't fit in.

Fold quarts are "crystallized protoculture" maybe? Cut out the singing entirely, have characters experience boosting because the crystallized protoculture fuel necklace, responds to the pilots blood lust and enhances his abilities.

Xabungle is mostly good from what I've seen because Tomino harnesses his weirdest most autistic side for comedy, there's a bunch of fun animation & drawings and it has a good adventurous atmosphere but there were parts I felt the autism got too bad & took me out of the experience.

I also wish the main mech design was better, the humans look 100x better than it. Cool Cool Bye is not remotely memorable in terms of story but is fun to watch just to see a quick OVA with designs by the same guy.

Still fun though, I really gotta pick it up again and finish it one dya.

People can tell from this DVD cover that it has something to do with Power Rangers, but can also tell that it is not actually Power Rangers. It's a good compromise between the Zyuranger/Dairanger covers, which looked like they were completely unrelated, and the Kakuranger covers, which might as well have been Power Ranger DVDs to the general public.

He's a bit hit or miss, but overall I'd say he's my favorite Gundam designer since the 80s just for how creative he is in comparison with the likes of Ebikawa and modern Okawara.

I really like his stuff, both the designs themselves and his artsyle in general. I feel you can tell he's having a lot of fun with his designs too, theyre all packed with little gimmicks.I'd like to see him do some mech design on something that isn't gundam soon though.
also thats an akiman drawing you posted. I think there was an interview that mentioned that the grimoire was a collab of sorts. I imagine this is the stage ippei got it too before akiman made his adjustments

Yeah, I was looking for that one and couldn't find it. I prefer it because I hate the booster titties the final design Grimoire has for knees and prefer the blockier Jahannam-type gun(which looks kinda shit on the Jahannam but great on the Grimoire).

There's some Ippei designs I don't like, because they are too "out there" or simply ugly like the Gaitrash. But overall his designs are incredibly creative and make great use of silhouettes, and have a ton of personality in the head shapes, the use of angles and curves, etc.

I used to think Oshii was a hack, but then I read his interviews and realized he was a pretty cool guy. His opinions about others in the anime industry like Miyazaki and Anno are 100% spot-on as well.
