"The Amazing Computer Game"
An amazing yet unfinished virtual reality game, capable of transmitting sights and sounds directly into the brain of the player is stolen by a programmer with a grudge against his own company. But the program has a flaw that the programmer aims to solve: prolonged usage can be fatal. Trapped within the virtual reality world, Solbrain must find and rescue the children from a nightmarish dungeon before it's too late to save them!
Notes:
I'm not going to claim that Solbrain came up with the idea of "people trapped in a VR game that face in real life death or brain death" like popular anime such as .hack, No Game No Life, and Sword Art Online. I say this because Westworld existed long before that, though Westworld was more of an amusement park than a VR simulation like this story is. Is it possible that all of these borrowed the story from Solbrain, or at least were inspired by it? I would say it's possible. This is the earliest "trapped in VR" story that I've run into. If you know of any others, please do let me know. Someone said "Ender's Game" but that's really quite different than this and the others I mentioned.
For an early episode, this is a very solid one. It has kids without being annoying. It uses costumes from other Toei properties without them being out of place. And everything in the story feels believable. In a time when VR is both a real technology and a popular story element, this story is definitely entertaining.
I do have one interesting note to make that you won't hear ANYWHERE ELSE: the original working title for this episode was "I Am a Game Hero". I know this because I own one of the original scripts used in production for this show, and it's crossed out and "The Amazing Computer Game" (Yume no Game Soft) is written in next to it.
Enjoy this great episode. Next one is weird, but entertaining.
>mfw I thought only one episode was out and see this thread
WE ARE VR!
I know all of you don't check blog posts since I post these here, so I at least wanted this image to get posted here.
That's no Zaku, boy.

Introduce in IBO a team that has access to beam weapons. How fucked up is the cast?
>>14674184
Depends. Despite how Gundam likes to treat beam weaponry, it's not the end-all be-all of weapons. Real-world research into directed energy weapons has shown that beams are hard to keep coherent over range, and it actually takes more energy from a beam to cause damage than it would from a solid projectile. It's just that it's easier to add energy to a beam than it is to a projectile, so they theoretically could be very damaging. Just on their own, beam weapons would not necessarily be any better than the kinetic weapons already used in IBO, and might be in many ways worse. Given that nano-laminate is stated to be good against incendiary weapons, it probably has good properties against thermal damage as well as kinetic.
>>14674184
Assuming no further BS on either side, the IBO group is royally fucked, unless the beam wielding unit is either a battery-powered unit like SEED MS or early beam-weapon equipped UC MS where beam weapons took forever to recharge and wasn't directly powered off the reactor.
For one, the IBO-verse have no real anti-beam defense. The most they can do is just armor up like Gusion and hope it can spread the damage over a larger surface area.
Of course, pilot skill counts too, and a mook in a UC Jegan would likely lose out to the melee-centric Gundams helmed by manchild soldiers.

>Given that nano-laminate is stated to be good against incendiary weapons, it probably has good properties against thermal damage as well as kinetic.
Actually, we have something about that. In the show itself, it's stated that NLA can be burned off. If I recall correctly, prolonged exposure to napalm would do the trick. If it's normal napalm, that puts it between 1500-2000 degrees Fahrenheit.
Compare this to the Zaku, which is armed with a super hard steel alloy. Steel melts at around 2500 degrees Fahrenheit.
> But that Graze Mika rode in on survived reentry
From the looks of it, there was some melting going on with the Graze despite it not breaking into pieces. A space shuttle going through reentry will face temperatures around 3000 degrees.
Want to know what also survived reentry? The RX78's shield (at least in the movie). Sure, Amuro did have to throw it away afterwards but it did the trick. The shield itself was more durable than the Gundam's Lunar Titantium body and you want to know what was enough to cut through that shield? Zeon heat weapons.
HELLO /m/ CITY!
So I let the old thread die on accident. My bad but the poll is now up and running! I'll give this a few days. Probably Wednesday or so. So vote away and get prepped for another round of Tuesday Night Rigging this week!

I thought the MP Evas were going to be a ref option?

I have failed.
Tomino actually made it into the poll? I thought everyone hated the idea.
Hello /m/en, I started playing Dysnomia and I guess its ok for an old mecha musume video game but is there anything better out there? Just a hack and slash game with mecha girls of any sort?
Thanks,
>>14673909
maybe HoiHoi on the PS2?
>>14673909
Have you tried the busou shinki battle master games? Dunno if i'l fit what you want, but still is good to check it out.
Mmm... there's some other good Mecha musume games games by any chance?
>>14673909
There's CosmicBreak and CosmicBreak 2 if you're looking for an MMO type of game that plays like Virtual On crossed with Armored Core and Moebutts, but it's heavily P2W even if both games are regularly running freebie spin tickets. And yes, melee units are the most broken.
Love Live x Gundam fucking when

Hopefully never.

For a special event, a team of School Idols sign up for a Gunpla Battle tournament. However, they don't know much about Gunpla, let alone Gunpla Battle!
They have a month to learn, build, and train before the event. Will they fail? Will they make it?

That's just a removed faceplate, robot innards always look spooky-

nevermind what the hell
I love Nagano's designs.
Is there a gundam series that/m/ actually likes?
>>14673578
Victory is pretty good.
>>14673578
All of them. There's no universally liked or disliked series anywhere you ask more than 1 person, because opinions are a thing. If you can't understand that you might in fact be autistic.
The gunpla I shower in cum every night with your mom.
So I just got the FIX RX-78-02 figure from Origin (which is absolutely top tier, by the way) but it has three different configurations for the Gundam. I remember someone mentioning that the Gundam goes through upgrades during the war, but can anybody with the manga tell me at what point in the story it gets each upgrade and where? What's the difference between the two beam rifles aside from aesthetics?
Also, are there any other significant changes to the story? I plan on picking up the manga eventually after reading up to the Tri-Stars appearance.(also, since when was it in color? I only remember a few pages being in color when I first glanced at it.)
>>14672815
The last one's definitely the refit after Jaburo where it gets the Magnetic Coating, that's the same in the TV series and The Origin. Looks like it has extra verniers for space combat. Not sure about the second version's differences though.
The middle one just looks like it's supposed to be the vKa.
Maybe midway through when it gets an actual Core Fighter?
>>14672815
Been awhile since I've read it, but first iteration is the Gundam's appearance from Side 7 to it's arrival at Jaburo, second I think is the Gundam's appearance during the Jaburo attack and Operation Odessa up until the battle of Solomon, and the third is the post-Solomon upgrade, when it gets the magnet coating.
Also, the manga switches up the events of the OYW and places the Jaburo assault before Operation Odessa, and the Feds field GMs en-masse there as opposed to the original version of those events, where only 30 GMs are there with fifteen of them serving as rear line security for the Big Trays.
Guys can anyone identify this mech or what it's from?

This is Deus, right?
>Criticizes giant robots for being unpractical and unrealistic
>Has not one but two giant robots
And how ineffective they are is pointed out.
None of them saying it wasn't cool though.
>>14671463
Kojima dedicated an entire codec conversation to shitting on the concept of metal gears.
You don't need to hate mecha to realize they're impractical as hell.
What does /m/ think of The Fifth Element?
Luc Besson/10, opera scene is pretty cool.
>>14670610
I thought it was shit
It was great
I bought the old HG Gyan when I started watching BF when I was a newfag and saw the fight between Sei and the Sazaki kid which made my penis inflate 7 times it's size. I then got a Revive Gundam, and the Gyan got lost in the mail, and really, that was a better fate than what happened to the Gundam.
I bought GP01, Mark II AEUG and Sniper II all at once. No regrets. Oh, and I picked up Nobell Berserker for like $16 the next week.
>>14670170
Just got my first one yesterday the HGUC 1/144. I really enjoyed building it and Im probably going to get the RG Gundam 78 next.
I don't come here often so what do you guys think of the new Battlebot series?
I think it's a blast to watch. And I'm glad that ABC just uploads the best part of the show onto youtube.
Also it's a lot better than the new robot wars series.
>>14669979
It'd be better if they cut out the forced reality TV garbage and quit trying to broadcast it as if it were a sport i.e. with a million ads for ten minutes of robot fight.
>>14669999
You don't have to watch the forced reality TV bullshit. All the fights and only the fights are straight up on youtube.
