It's a decent show. I'd compare it to the SRW anime adaptations because it has a huge vareiety in mecha designs - from mass produced military grunts to small ninja robots and of course Ordian, who is a huge human-faced Obaribot. The problem and why a lot of times you'll hear people saying that the show is shit are the awful guesssubs. There are times when they are as bad as the Mazinger Z crabsticks.

Re:Blitz bothers me. Am I supposed to believe that the Blitz' new atmospheric equipment is designed for anti-mobile suit combat, despite the fact that the Blitz never fought any other mobile suit aside from the Strike? Nichol spent most of his screentime getting kicked in the ass before slipping and falling on a sword, so what was the Re:Blitz for anyway? The Daggers were half a year away, and the ZAFT didn't even know of the Daggers' existence until Panama.

It's probably more that a ton of early mobile suits in Cosmic Era are total bricks when it comes to in-atmo combat.
Look at the Strike, it's practically welded to the Aile pack due to the gains in mobility it provides.

Hm, well I've never heard anyone say they were a fan of Hasegawa's illustration style, but usually I only hear praise for the Crossbone design. At the very least, I love the Crossbone's Core Fighter.
There are lots of bizarre Mobile Suits and Mobile Armors in Crossbone, so that might make it unenjoyable for you. I appreciate Gundam installments for the story, characters, and world-building. I thought it was worth reading for those, but it wasn't phenomenal by those standards either, I was just happy to see a side of the Universal Century we don't see anywhere else. And it didn't require a big time devotion.
