Questions that NEED but barely are answered in the /m/echa genre.
I've always wondered how the power source was converted into mechanical energy in robots. An extension to this question is how the energy source was useful in it's weaponry. Take IBO, it had a mystery power source that could be used to move the robot but ALSO power the railgun tier weapon.
Another question that never gets answered in scifi, is how a "superior" human is exactly superior. In star wars they had the midi-chlorians, but how do you create or find midi-chlorians? If it cannot be proven why even put it as a plot element? Another example is newtypes, Tomino never went into detail how are these organisms produced so people can do it irl... or how cyber-newtypes get created. How drugs are used to create cyber-newtypes? If the staff didn't know how to create a cyber-newtype, why even use them as a plot element? isn't that lying?

it's 70s psychedelic scifi new age bullshit.
All you need to know.

Depends on the show. In UC Gundam shows, plasma is vented from the reactor to spin turbines. In the original Gundam it's actually the engines of the Core Fighter that spin turbines to generate electrical power, but it also uses plasma venting to assist the electrical motors in the arms and legs. In Turn-A, the Black Hole Engine powers a powerful and advanced I-Field generator that actually moves the Turn-A around without the need for motors at all.

Do you need to know how David Bowie's gonna transport all that water to his home planet in The Man Who Fell to Earth?
Fuck no, it's just a symbol of broken dreams and lost hopes.
Same with newtype bullshit, it's just shounen samurai shit in space, no need to know how it works.
Is this Zeon wank?
>>14700312
Nah, it'sbuddhistwank
Zeon > Feddies
tbqh famalam
If you take "this crazy asshole who doesn't really accomplish anything and is clearly not supposed to be heroic is on the Federation side" as Zeon wank, I guess?
Thunderbolt is pretty much just there, honestly. It looks pretty and is real intense. Doesn't really take any sides on an ideological front beyond "war is horrible".
hey /m/. relativly new, about done with zeta. i just had a question. does pic related not count as a gundam? whats the line between a normal mobile suit and a gundam
>>14700251
If Bandai calls it a Gundam it's a Gundam. Don't look any deeper than that.
>>14700251
Gundam is a title.
>>14700251
Gundams usually have that Gundampaintscheme, white, blue, red with a golden V. Usually that's the combination.
The head looks rather Gundam-like, I think it gets a pass.

Just a bit longer til Ex-Aid.
wow yurusen that's harsh
I like this episode okay but it doesn't feel climactic or build hype or anything at all.
>You will never see Gothicmade
Well nothing I can do about it unless I mount an assault on Nagano's non-Euclidean mobile fortress in the Gobi desert in order to steal the master copy.
>>14700132
Iktf
Doesn't look like we'll ever see decent scans of the newest FSS chapters again either.
>>14700132
I like Nagano but hot damn his business practices (or lack of) have always been his worst enemy.
When piloting a giant robot, is mobility or defense more important? If you were a pilot, which would you prefer?
In most mechanical settings there is shit like beams, bendy lasers, Macross missiles that from Frontier onwards are also anti-dimensional... You can't defend against all that bullshit except by not being hit.
>>14700123
It seems so much easier to just be invincible. With speed you've got to pay attention to what's going on and dodge shit. No matter how good the robot is, you can still get killed if he fucks up.
With invincible armor, all you've got to do is aim at the other guy. It's so much easier being Heero than Amuro.
the full armor gundam and the psycho zaku have both and they seem to balance them extremely well.
He did a few things wrong. Like placing faith in Cima and trying to give her a chance to overcome the dark burden placed unwillingly upon her shoulders.
Or trusting that Gato would not be a retard.
Irrelevant, but is he anime Ben Kingsley?
>>14703579
No, Yul Brinner.
I don't like the 0083 retcon. There were a million different ways that they could have made a Zeta prequel.
Why do the Solomon and colony drop if it never gets mentioned in the series its meant to tie into? Just have the Titans form at the end of the OYW to prevent another OYW from happening.
It bugs me that the only Zeta characters to appear are Bask, Haman, and Jamitov. Would have been way better to see what other characters are up to before 0087. Even if they were just cameos.
He did nothing wrong.
Robotech: The Movie begs to differ.

That ANN podcast he was on was a pretty good listen, it was interesting listening to him talk about how things were back in the 80's.
>>14700088
>in the 1980's, we could buy Japanese shows for a song, redub them badly with American cartoon voices for the lowest possible cost, then pretend that it was original.
Where were you when the Armored Core boardgame raised $100k on Kickstarter before revealing that it actually wasn't an Armored Core game at all?
>>14700075
oh wow, it's literally the same game but changed the name...
what does it matter if it's the exact same item you paid money for, if it's literally a fucking name change?
>>14700089
so its okay to promote a game using an existing franchise to milk money from their community. Then after you raise a stupid amount of cash you turn around and say oh sorry we didn't have permission to use that brand, here's something else.
Seriously that kickstarter was shady from the get go and I can't believe the amount of dumbasses that didn't use fuckin common sense to see it was a scam.
>>14700140
yes it's fine. I have no sympathy for someone who bought a random product if the only reason they bought it was a name, and not related to some amount of research into if they'd like the content.
>>14699949
are these those Chinese kits that are like, MG-ish?
>>14699961
these look interesting

Where can I buy these though? I did buy the Purple Dussack last year, but where can I buy the others?
>>14699961
Yeah and they do require some work but they're not all bad

I saw it for 50 bucks at a store yesterday and I was wondering if I should pick it up or not
Strike 00 exia freedom gundam
Enough said
>>14699685
/m/ liked it, but the thread got archived and no ones decided to start a new one yet. The hype will return once the new DLC comes out
It's an obviously rushed game. Pretty cool customization even though the stage variations sucked.
Just heard about this game today, got a nostalgia boner for one of my favorite childhood series. Stopped watching during Frontier, has the series been good since then? Gonna look into watching some of the newer stuff, trying to get an idea of what I'm in for.
Digimon adventure psp kinda plays the anime straight... well more or less anyway. The only difference is eventually you can unlock warp digivolve for all the chosen instead of just Tai and Matt.
As for the other seasons, I really enjoyed Savers and enjoyed the first two seasons of Xros Wars. If you have the cash, I'd look up Digimon Cyber sleuth as well, it's on PSvita though.
>>14699376
Savers doesn't really get a lot of attention but I gather it's pretty alright.
Xros Wars is absolutely stellar.
Xros Wars: Time Hunters is absolute garbage.
Tri is kind of fun so far.
>>14699376
>Frontier
Frontier isn't so bad, It just becomes Red and White: the show.
Post /m/ characters who love /m/ things or you think would browse here.

I bet Noa and Funasaka would hang out
