Toei version took away the eyeliner, changed the chest fins, turned the pilder red and the limbs blue, and replaced the abdominal protrusion with an anorexia curve. Even the gray parts between the limbs and torso were changed; they're a distinctly lighter shade in the cartoon.

The only change that made sense and complemented the design was the red pilder, which is why the Shin Mazinger version is the best

Anyway, Great Mazinger never had the eyeliner as far as I can tell. Still looks best with all black and no blue.

Code Geass is boring, stupid, and has shitty pacing. The mysteries don't grip me, they just set up a bunch of shit they never resolve they just like making new problems to make you ignore any previous questions left unanswered. The mechs and the fights are all boring/stupid to look at. Every character works on plot contrivance and go from incompetent to baby genius to incompetent again at break neck speed. I didn't understand why it was so popular when it was airing and I don't understand it now.

The second season is worse and is near unwatchable.

I feel like this thread is an attack on the quality of the show, when the truth is any fanbase can over-hype a series. A series may be good, but if a fanbase makes the series look like "ZOMG BEST FUCKING THING EVAR", it makes the series look bad, not because of the quality of the show, but because you bought into the fanbase's bullshit.

It's pretty much about putting the ghost of Zeon to rest, giving an idea as to why it's so damning to the setting and why it could perpetuate for so long only to abruptly end between CCA and F91.

As much as F91 was a new generation tale, CCA was the closure of Amuro's and Char's rivalry, whereas Unicorn is the closure of the so-called early UC, wishing for a future where Gundam isn't just Zeeks and Feddies going at each other's throats until the end of time.

And the reveal is my biggest problem with Unicorn. They hype up Lapace's box every fucking episode (which i was tired of by episode 2), but it's just a politician's promise? It's entirely meaningless.

By its very nature as a prequel, no, it didn't change anything. At most, it just fills in the gaps to explain the whole "why the Federation went into decline" thing that happened.

Don't think that was ever implied, at worst they were just one of many "players behind the scene" that participated in and profited from the corruption that was always there in the beginning.

Remember those old guys who were colluding and laughing in that one episode of ZZ where Bright and Judau reunite with Fa? Who's to say one of those guys wasn't a representative of the Vist Foundation, or the Marcenas family?

I have pretty mixed opinions.

The actions still pretty nice and some of the recent episodes have been more focused on it with the slice of life elements taking a backseat. As of episode 6 or so, there's some semblance of a plot now and as cliche as it is, it's passable for me.

There's still too many forced moe moments though and Retsu (Yuinshiel's yuri obsessed friend) continues to annoys the fuck out of me.
