Scopedog
from Armored Trooper VOTOMs
(1983)
Was this the first mecha design to feature individually hinged hip/skirt armor plates?
I mean from its inception. Many mecha designs have had their hip armor retroactively made into hinged plates (the RX-78, RGM-79, MS-06, etc), but that was a conceptual revision applied years later.
I'm fairly sure the Scopedog was the first main character mecha design to feature such skirtplates. But was it the first one, period? Or was there some mook robot from Tryder G7 or Gaiking or something?
Anyone got any ideas?

A more interesting question: Was this the first mecha design to feature that triple-scope eyepiece?
/m/, I am disappoint.

Go Nagai - All His Works
I'm half-way through scanning this and should have it done later on today. I'll post some pics meanwhile, though.
There's some nice high-res art and pics of Nagai himself, too. This is an artbook released in 1997, by the way. I got it sent to me by a friend to scan.

>pics of Nagai himself
There's an old pic of him floating around from a Marvel newsletter a thousand years ago where Stan Lee is meeting young cartoonist Nagai Go while in Japan.

Literally who hates on the Extraordinary-Superior Gundam, OP?
Give me their names, I'll make sure they regret it.
Also, MG 2.0 never ever.
I rarely see hate on the EXS.
if I had to find something that people complained about, its the MG being a Brick but thats not hating on the EXS.
I always liked it.

Why is the west so bad at mecha design?
Why is every robot to come out of Hollywood either a rehash of Bayformers or the Aliens Power Loader?
>>14912221
>How come the west doesnt design good mec-
>>14912281
I stand corrected.
>>14912221
the power loader is dockyard/construction hardware
western mechs are more often than not designed with function in mind. exposed joints, clunky movement, hydraulics everywhere, usually held controls or frames strapped to the pilot, the point in a lot of them is for the viewer to be able to see familiar tech and infer how they function
the military aesthetic appeal can't be denied when it comes to western audiences either
