Is Nausicaa the greatest sci-fi manga of all time? How come nobody here ever talks about it?
Because Mecha means giant robot
>>15406409
It's good. Probably the best thing Miyazaki's ever done. What else is there to say? Even the fucked up insect incest porn doujin is amazing.
Because most people watched the inferior anime version

I have no idea, you're probably one of the pioneers on watching this one! Check out Bastard!! by the way if you haven't.
Didn't this get a recent remaster or something? Been meaning to check it out.
Hirai not knowing what a bear looks like, interspecies romance, some pretty neat mecha designs, a city that actually stays destroyed and doesn't get magically rebuilt every episode anda fucking cliffhanger.
WHERE IS THE OVA?
>>15405508
They had to rewrite it to give the antagonist the most powerful weapon Gundam has ever seen.
Nagasaki is adapting a shonen manga, so that'll take a while.
>>15405508
Why hasn't the ova from Try Island Wars given a BD/DVD release yet?
This is a Zeon Zaku.
Say something nice about it!

It's fighting green!
>>15405072
That's a goofy looking Zaku, but I like its shield!

Actually isn't that just a green Gouf.
Couldn't Casshern take a bunch of his hairs from his head, feed them to the robots that were slowly dying from the ruin, regenerate the lost hairs and then repeat the process all over again to solve the ruin?
>>15405067
No, the Eagles were afraid of the Fell-Beasts.
>>15405067
Eating Casshern wouldn't turn you immortal or anything. Didn't you get that it was just a lie? Literally nothing was gonna stop the Ruin.
god, casshern sins was so fucking awful.

Interview with Shoji Kawamori
>I need to ask you about my favourite Macross, but I’m scared!
Don’t be scared, I’m curious now [laughs]
>It’s Macross 7, I enjoy it a lot!
Why are you scared? [laughs] I don’t hate it or anything. Creatively, it was a failure, but as a tv anime it was a success. The record companies were happy, the models sold well, and the music is still popular.
>But you think it’s a failure, still?
Yes. Look. The thing about Macross 7 was that it was conceptually bankrupt. At the proposal meeting, Tetsu-kun (Tetsuro Amino, Macross 7 director) said ‘I see the protagonist piloting a Valkyrie with an electric guitar’. He looked into my eyes as the silence fell on the room.
>He was looking for guidance?
Yes, that was it. Tetsu-kun is very talented and I trusted him completely. I thought the idea was ridiculous! But I looked him in the eye and said ‘Tetsu-kun, it’s your show’. I only came up with the character Gamlin and his concept in the triangle.
>Gamlin is definitely my favourite, I love his Wolverine-hair.
Everyone says that! I honestly did not do that on purpose. My concept for Gamlin was someone who was Constantly Unstoppable, Constantly Key. Nothing would get in his way and he would remain pivotal to the story’s events.
>So, what’s your final verdict on Macross 7?
It’s definitely not Trash, but it isn’t Dynamite either. I’d say if the Galaxy is Calling Nekki Basara, I probably wouldn’t pick up, it’s likely to be a marketing call.
>Kawamori-san, thank you so much
>>15405020
The guy that made Delta complaining about a Macross series being conceptually bankrupt?
Kawamori really does need to back off and just be the VF designer. He really doesn't have anything else to offer the franchise.
Kawamori didn't create Gamlin tho
>>15405039
kawamori should step off if he refuses to let go that fucking vf-22ish frame , only the drakken had something new, every other desing since the messiah seems like the same frame with 2 or 3 pieces swithed around
According to this interview, what we got was the happiest ending possible and Okada pushed for it, Nagai felt Tekkadan didn't deserve to have any of their members alive and in every other ending they all died. Kudelia died as well. The last 5 eps were rewritten, and Nagai felt Tekkadan had to "pay for their actions against other people." He wanted them all to die but they settled on a "fake happiness" ending. Also, Tek confirmed to have new identities and be living in hiding.
Where were you when Tekkadan fans got btfo'd
http://otakomu.jp/archives/523039.html
Also, Okada says she never had confidence in the second season and felt uncomfortable with most of the writing.

What, you can't take anon's word for it in good faith? What are you, paranoid?
It is possible to jump from one Gundam universe to another and the key to make that happen is the Plavsky crystal.
At some point in Reiji's universe, something happened concerning the crystal which somehow merged all the Gundam universes. This is where the Black History starts.
That green rainbowish light that we commonly see in the Gundam series resembles the Bifröst. We know that the Bifröst is link between all the Nine Realms of the Norse cosmos. It is possible that whenver that rainbowish light appears in Gundam opens up a portal of some kind to other Gundam universes.
The IBO is somewhat crucial to the Black History as well since it has Gjallarhorn, the horn of Heimdall, the god who guards the Bifrost.
>>15404748
Maybe Reiji's world is the Newtype Civilization based off of the Colonies that fled Earth. Reiji never actually put two and two together because nobody knows what happened to earth once they left. As earth went thru BH cycles Turn X floats into the solar system, causing the creation of Turn A. It's said that the White Doll is controlled like a puppet, like how Island Wars showed can happen when a new Plavesky goes haywire.
>>15405194
Turn A Gundam is the future of GBF
The "Black History" is just a huge collection of Gunpla Battles.
All "mobile dolls" are just 1:1 scale gunpla, that's why they don't rust even after centuries in mountain cycles.
Corin Nander is actually that German Gunpla fighter that went crazy after being NTR'ed by Fellini too many times.
What would he pilot?
A VF Messiah with a shit ton of swappable weapon packs for whatever role needs to be fulfilled.
If you watched the show you'd know what he pilots.

Planes aren't robots, man.
Ever since Gundam, the "Politic" sub-plot has been a feature in many mecha series, especially real-robot shows. But then we've many, many examples of it going wrong, for two reasons:
- Politic is godammned complicated. People spend years of their life just to learn its basic. Writerboards don't
- Politic is also godammned boring, unless you go into the really, really mundane things.
So, should authors considering not to include any political elements in their future work, if they think they can not handle it? Just focusing on the fighting, the romance, etc
Of course, this approach is not a guarantee way for your typical real-robot show become less of a mess. And, to added to the salt, if you think about it politic is almost inevitable if your characters' goal is basically "change the world" or the likes - A.K.A the politic sub-plot provides a "believeable" platform which the characters can realize their goals.
>>15404262
It's a tricky question because we're talking about a broad genre, and genre ramifications, where the series and their purpose (aside from selling toys) differ greatly between them. Politics will play varying degrees of importance depending of the series story and its aim. You cannot simply get rid of it.
I think you are viewing the whole matter in the wrong perspective; instead of blaming the subject that is being done poorly, we need to point the finger to the writers themselves, who executed the subject poorly. If they want to write a story which features political sub plot and said sub plot take considerable part of the story, and the author acknowledge that he have limited knowledge of political matters, he should look to try to educate himself about it before working on it. A decent author can make a story with good fighting, romance, characters development and relationships, and still add a coherent and well done political plot.
>>15404479
Yeah, this. I think people unfairly blame plot elements for "ruining" a story, when the problem really lies with the staff for not executing it properly within the show. You could have the most nonsensical plot and people would still like it if it was executed well.
>>15404262
What the fuck?
Piss off, ESL shitter.
Is this the worst gundam romance?
even if garrod is the most competent gundam protag
No? Garrod actually has to romance the girl, get rejected gently several times and you see Tifa making some actual effort to open up andher feelings for him grow. It's a rather dynamic and organic romance, especially when you consider than one half of it is a girl that started as dead inside and with very little agency throughout the whole thing.
That's not Autistic Augus and atra.
Probably the best Gundam romance. Romances where protag falls in love in two minutes and the girl dies one month later are the worst trope ever. At least X tried to build it.

Which kamen rider series has the best fights?
Best gundam final battle
>>15404134
Not even remotely
Any Gundam series that has a Gundam v Gundam ending is schlock and not in the spirit of Gundam.
how could it be anything else?
Still the best
