If you categorically can't get any enjoyment out of high school bullshit, this may not be the show for you. That said, I'm not generally fond of school shenanigans and I liked FMP a lot. There's a handful of episodes before things get more serious for a decent bit, and then it's more of a mix.

I think Giant Robo had better art and there's far less panels of the characters making the exact same running pose. Could be because some other mangaka who was relatively popular did a bunch of art for it.

Gits baffles me because it doesn't do anything well. It doesn't aim for fans because it butchered the message and just recreated a bunch of scenes but made them not impactful. As for GITS, I'm not surprised. I'm not a purist, but Hollywood doesn't give a shit about source material whether it's US comics or Japanese ones. I really love how /m/ was shilling that there's nothing difficult in adapting anime/manga in a Western format. Say what you want about the Japanese, but this is their work, their culture, their tastes. We may not always agree with it (I personally think they're trivial and pretentious), but at least they pour all their heart and soul with their own views and experiences. It's the same problem when Japanese adapt Western stuff without having no clue how to interpret the material.
