Through some hypothetical twist of fate Project Z begins production and you are put at the helm. How do you write it?

I think it should have Mamoru becoming a morally ambiguous mercenary and changing his name to Harm (Written as 害 [Gai]) to show how he has become damaged and now needs to kill to live

So, the RX-123 Woundwort. The forbidden apple of Advance of Zeta; beautiful but always out of reach. HG Never. Let's talk Woundwort.
First up, whoa. The first impression is: this is not your grandad's RX-78. It's not red, white and blue, and it doesn't look like a bunch of cardboard boxes. But it is, still, a Gundam. Those eyes and horns give it away. If you look closely it even has the V at the waist. But enough about how it's the same, let's talk about how it's different.
Woundwort looks like it's from the future. It's the most 00 you've ever seen in UC - a sleek silhouette and loads of vents, with prominent curved panels. It's also almost entirely white, which contributes to the perception that she's from an advanced product design team. iGundam, you might say. So white, it almost verges on angelic, but without the ridiculous wings of the Wing Zero Custom. And there's enough contrasting dark colours that it doesn't look blinding, or like a lazy paintjob. Definitely a prototype from a science fiction, and not a toy for kids.
Now, looking closer, her proportions and form are very weird. Huge, enormous legs. Loads of thrusters. Tiny arms and chest. Massive, colossal weapon. And where are the feet?! There's no mistaking it, Woundwort is a space superiority mobile suit. Some people say Gundam fights on the ground, but for me all the important action is in space, so this specialised machine is perfect for me. The small frame means it's hard to hit, and the thrusters and legs work towards immense zero-g maneuverability. Designed for an iconic battlefield that can only be done in scifi like Gundam, this is not a tank, it's a fighter jet - so light and fast you'll never hit it.
>>15470390
And oh goodness me, that weapon. I wish all mobile suits had weapons on this scale. It's so straight but so industrial that it's halfway between a wizard's staff and a sniper rifle you'd aim at a battleship. It's almost like the stinger on a wasp, and the rounded thoracic thruster pod on the back, as well as the enlarged head just add to this feel. Except scale the weapon up so it's Monster Hunter-tier: Woundwort doesn't just look fast, it also looks immensely deadly.
Speaking of deadly, have you seen this thing's other forms? What we're looking at is the basic, unadorned Strike, before you equip it with its Striker Packs. Except instead of Striker Packs, Woundwort looks like it equips whole other MS or MAs. It's visually a bit like Lagann from TTGL - a tiny core controlling another machine. Some of my highlights include looking like Strike Freedom, sitting inside a Gaplant, and, oh yeah, the time WW got eaten by the Psyco Gundam.
So, let's go back to the comparison. Gundams are usually boxy tanks with legs; shipping containers come to life. At best you might get a pointier look, like Zeta or Unicorn. But Woundwort is what you get when you mix an angel, a fighter jet, a wasp, and an iPad. Yet it's still a Gundam. And since it's never been animated (shh GBFT was trash it doesn't count) or made into a kit, there's another layer of allure because Woundwort is always out of reach.
That is what I think when I look at Woundwort.

this but the exact opposite instead
Just finished the movie. The fuck did I just watch? The animation was fantastic, music was neat, but I felt lost nearly the entire time. Are the Crossbone Vanguard just more angry spacenoids like Zeon? Who the hell won in the end? Why does this feel so incomplete? What did /m/ think of this movie? Most importantly, will Victory Gundam be as confusing?
>>15470128
You watched the equivalent of a poorly done compilation movie from a show, in this case said original show doesn't exist
The Crossbone Vanguard are a bunch of monarchs wanting to create their own space kingdom
I thought it was ok but I would like a propper remake in the future
Victory is equally if not more confusing, but for totally different reasons
>>15470128
>What the fuck did I just watch?
Gundam F91. Reading isn't your strongest point is it?
Okay busting your balls aside, it feels so rushed because it was supposed to be a series, it's the first few episodes (don't know how many for sure but most say about 12) condensed into a movie after production issues arose.
As for who won, well at the point where the movie ends? No one, there was a civil war mentioned in Crossbone where Cecily and Seabook eventually routed them out, Cecily using her position as Berah Rohna to do it, and in the process a plot from jupiter was uncovered and so they go there as pirates.
The CBV isn't quite like Zeon, as far as I know and can remember they weren't doing it for spacenoid independence, but just rather a family trying to make a monarchy, funnily enough the name was bought they aren't any sort of old time nobility at all. Basically they, well at least meitzer, said they were trying to found and start an aristocracy based around nobliss oblige, due to the federations grasp waning in the last few decades. That said they also had plans to wipe out a good chunk of the Earths (and maybe even other colonies) populations as well. off hand I don't remember why for sure, but I believe it was going to be done to lighten the load on resources. Still it's batshit.
And no victory shouldn't be as confusing, it got a full run, I mean it has weird shit in it from time to time but it's not really confusing.
>>15470128
>Are the Crossbone Vanguard just more angry spacenoids like Zeon?
They are basically within the same realm of Zeon, however they are far more upfront with the desire of creating an aristocractic family to rule space than the Zabi's were in Zeon. The OVA Twlight Axis should be giving us a general idea where they cropped up from, but at the moment we know they are an orginization dedicated to transitioning the world government into a monarchy for the Ronahs.
>Who the hell won in the end?
Crossbone Gundam mentions that the incident was swept under the rug and that it was technically a Federation victory at Frontier 4. Soon after this, the Vanguard is reformed under Berah Ronah [Cecily Fairchild] and becomes a pirate unit dedicated to fighting the ever growing Jovian Empire.
>Why does this feel so incomplete?
Basically the first 12-13 episodes of an anime were jammed conceptually together to make the F91 film. As a result, a lot of the planned lore and backround are lost in the translation, and we are left with a very messy version of the original vision.
>What did /m/ think of this movie?
Its generally viewed as a mess, but its an enjoyable mess with some damned memorable moments in it. Not as beloved or remembered as Char Counter Attack, but still a fun ride if you just sit back for the action and music.
>Most importantly, will Victory Gundam be as confusing?
Yes, but not due to anything having to do with the plot. In that regard, Victory is one of the most straightforward of the series. Character motivations and actions on the other hand are some of the most insane and wacky Tomino has ever done, making for generally interesting scenes for either the best or worst reasons. Its still a damned good watch though, even if it is a product of a lot of business bickering and Tominos own bitterness.
Hey guys! You may have heard about this already, but Julian Gollop, the creator of the original XCOM, is making a return to the alien invasion tactics genre with Phoenix Point. This game deals with Lovecraftian creatures coming from the deep instead of space, but I looked up the campaign on Fig (https://www.fig.co/campaigns/phoenix-point) and it seems there'll be some /m/echa content--this concept art has an exoskeleton (pic related) and you can see what looks to be a cool VTOL ship with a cannon in the video. This looks pretty badass, anyone else thinking of backing? I always wanted to see Gollop come back to this genre.
>>15469874
Here's a pic of the VTOL thing. Looks kinda Starcraft-y in the sense of seeming ramshackle and heavily used, but that makes sense in a postapocalyptic environment.
So is he trying to show up Terror from the Deep, the X-Com he didn't work on, or what? Maybe he's just doing something different from the new XCOMs.
>>15470038
There is also a tank and stuff.
>>15470467
I think he wants to do Terror from the Deep right this time. From what I heard, Microprose was under some very severe time constraints, which meant the TftD was more or less a reskinned X-COM with a lot of bugs. Now that Gollop has plenty of time and money (he's already been working on this for a year and he's got 250k dollars out of 500k in about a day), he has a chance to really do a Lovecraftian strategy game well. He hasn't even released the stretch goals yet, I wonder what those will be. I hope modding is one.
Gonna be honest, cautiously hype.

Even if it wasn't what kind of monster would say no to Wallace and Gromit?
Does this count as Mecha?

if chinks in plastic bug suits count as /m/ then yes
>>15467920
>Does this count as Mecha?
Since it doesn't have giant robots fighting against one another I'd say no, it ain't mecha.
It is science fiction though, with spaceships, battles, political intrigue etc... It just doesn't have robots.
No, but it is /m/.

Shut the fuck up you filthy spacenoid holy shit if you don't stop talking I'm going to gas your shitty little colony and all the neighbors. How dare you deride a beautiful piece of exclusively Federation engineering like that.
So I just got into Kamen Rider thanks to /m/ and I've been really enjoying faiz and double, where should I go from here? Are the showa shows worth watching?
Start back from Kuuga, since you seem to enjoy Hesei riders. Showa is very old school both in its effects and writing, and that may be good or bad depending on your taste. The Rider feelint does change after Decade though.
How did you finished Faiz? Yuria Haga is the only reason i tried to watch it again. Its just my second Rider show and my first Heisei Rider show. Any reasons on how you enjoy it?
>>15466964
If you enjoy Faiz and W, I'd suggest Kuuga, Gaim, Ryuki, OOO and Ex-Aid for you to watch next. Be sure to watch the Faiz movie Paradise Lost once you're near the end of the show or after you end it, it's the best KR movie to date by far.
