Can we all agree that Okawara is the WORST Jap mecha designer ever?
>>11949270
>>11949270
gonna need more examples before I can pass judgement. Okawara is in the running, though.
No.
Because he has done so many designs and contributed so much to the genre. Odds are that there is at least one mecha you like that was designed by him. He did more than Gundam.

Finally.
I'm so fucking ready.
>>11924849
Give the Galaxy Line SOS movie already. And thank you for this.
The main mech from the last /m/ show you watched is now your only weapon against everyone else in this thread.
How screwed are you?
Who knows.
eh I'm kinda fucked.
>>11960835
well since the last /m/ related show I watched was the Japanese Spiderman Toku, that means I have Leopardon, which basically means I win, since it's invincible in it's source material due to being mostly stock footage
ITT: Worst /m/ or /m/-related shows.

Crowds' worst problem is that it has a whole metric shit-ton of wasted potential. The artstyle and designs of the heroes' suits are fantastic and there are a lot of interesting concepts, but the characters are boring and unexplored and the execution leaves a -lot- to be desired.
What disappointed me about Crowds was that they teased me with being an adaptation of Ray Bradbury's "The Crowd" until something like episode 7, when it instead became clear that it was Faust+Zuckerberg-in-drag: the show.
GBF and G are the only Gundam series worth watching because they focus on the mecha battles aspect instead of the WORDS WORDS WORDS WORDS WORDS WORDS WORDS.
Pirates>>>>G/BFT
I could give you some nonsense, but hey if you just want fighting then those series are perfect for you.
>14 year old girl
>make her built like a brickhouse
At least China was built like a middle schooler, Fumina is a porn magnet.

New raws for Brother Fist Byclosser. Includes all 34 episodes and the data files.
Video: 10-bit x264
Audio: AAC 50%
Source: DVD9
Unfortunately, the Byclosser DVDs used LD-era analog tape masters, and about half of the episodes had blending. Thankfully, the blending was in a consistent pattern and affected just two of every five fields, so it was easily mitigated.
And Daitetsujin 17 DVD9s finished downloading, so I'll have those out later this week.
>>11957946
Whoa, what? Daitetsujin One Seven? THANK YOU BUNNY HAT! Seriously, that series is impossible to find!
>>11958781
Also thank you for this toku series which I will now look up on wikipedia because I have never heard of it.
New Tomino fan here. I've been wondering, are Tomino's other shows as deep as G-Reco? By that I mean, do they all have the same subtle sort of dialogue that, to the untrained eye, seems completely random, but actually reveals itself to be quite clever after a bit of thought? Stuff like how "The world isn't square" has a double meaning to it, expressing the existence of differing philosophies while simultaneously making an observation about the immediate conflict at hand, or how Raraiya throwing an apple represents the difference in values between the two cultures. Just for a couple examples. I really like that about G-Reco, and am hoping I can look forward to more of the same when I watch Tomino's other works. Pic hopefully related.

nice reverse psychology bro
>>11945864
What is this supposed to mean?

Oh boy
Wow, looks like Zeonic got off their asses and pulled a two year old project out of it. I'm impressed.

The situation in the Thunderbolt sector has finally erupted in an all-out war. The two pilots, Io and Darryl, are burdened with an even heavier fate. Just what is the prodigal mobile suit the Zeon prepared to counter the Federation demon known as the Gundam?!
Volume 1 Link: http://www.mediafire.com/download/34329r371t33qqf/[ZeonicScanlations]_Mobile_Suit_Gundam_Thunderbolt_[Volume01].zip
Welp, looks like Nozaku might have some competition now (key operative word being "might").
Still, this is a good thing, since it means more Gundam manga could get covered.
>>11959494
I thought he wasn't touching projects that Zeonic has... goes against his "stepping on feet" ideal or whatever. He can focus on the stuff he's doing. I want more Johnny!
>>11959528
To be fair, he couldn't have anticipated this to happen, but eh. What's done is done.
Was it good? Was it bad? Was it stupid?
it was stupid even though i like strike witches GuP and nanoha
I enjoyed ot throughly. Wasn't big on ship mecha musume years back but the anime was pretty good. Heard the cg parts were by the same studio by the guys who did MJP's cg, I'm expecting some nice close combat at least.
Is it even /m/? I'm not trying to be mean or anything I just want to know.
>Full Cloth
This kid is going to feel the raging boners of the crossbone fags wanting to see Full Cloth animated for the last 10 years.
Better have all the awesome poses from Steel Seven. I field Punch guaranteed
>>11969929
But didn't the Full Cloth had beam shields instead of I Fields?
You know, being based on the X-1?
>>11969937
It had both. The I-field generators are in the giant skulls in the full cloth.
>>11969937
it has both
So now that the Zanscare war is over and it doesn't look like there are going to be any crazy empires from Jupiter for a few years, I decided to get into the MS collecting game. It was a little hard when the League Militaire was snatching up every antique they could get their hands on but now that the Federation is finally phasing out the Javelin there's no better time to get in on the action.
I was trying to get my hands on a Javelin but there's kind of a scramble for them at the moment so I had to settle for a Jamesgun as my first suit. Kinda plain, but it's fun to take out for a ride and it doesn't take up much space in the hangar. It was that or the other recommended collection-starter, the Hizack. Plus, I have a beam shield to play around with until I can get my beam rifle license.
Any rare finds you guys could get your hands on? And make sure that your special Gundam-type you got your hands on isn't just a GM with a paint job and a v-fin slapped on, MS shows always seem to have thirty guys showing off their secret prototype Gundams never fielded.
Found some footage thats supposedly combat tests of some new Gundam, any ideas what this is and whether its legit?
>>11950973
I went to the used suit lot on my Side. The salesman kept offering me this Gundam type, but for whatever reason something just seems...off. Do you guys think it's legit?
>>11956031
Even if it's not, it could work out fine. All it needs is a little time, care, andfriendship.
Hey all. Let's compile a list of every mecha designer there is (Japanese and otherwise). Let's specify significant works/designs they've done. There's not enough information like this out there, especially not in one place.
Here's my list so far:
Mika Akitaka
Junichi Akutsu/Bee-Craft
Hiroshi Ando
Kenta Aoki
Shinji Aramaki
Artmic
Don Figueroa

Yoshitake Taniguchi
Kimitoshi Yamane
Takayuki Yanase
Ley Yumeno
(This comes outta the "Okawara is the worst" thread, but let's avoid bitching and griping about who sucks and who's great, if possible.)
I'll get the ball rolling.
LEY YUMENO
One of the lesser-known members of Artmic. His style was probably the simplest and most "puffy" of the various designers at Artmic. He was no slouch, though. He designed the original Garland for Megazone 23 and the Tread for Mospeada.
Also forgot Kanetake Ebikawa, mechanical designer for Full Metal Panic, Vandread, Strain, Burst Angel, Gundam AGE and Gundam 00.
Ikuto Yamashita
Mecha designer for freakin' Evangelion and Yukikaze. And the manga Dark Whisper. And he worked on Nadia, Blue Sub 6, and Gunbuster.
Ayy motherfuckers, three goddamn chapters have been uploaded THREE, go read and rejoice and then thank SMG and hope they keep translating it for the love of god
I'm a retard

>>11968712
I've seen this series mentioned a few times but never tried it. What's it similar to? Break Blade? Full Metal Panic?
>>11968746
Neither I guess? Its about a kid who wants to ba a ally of justice but when given the power because a mecha landed on top of him and killed him he ends up being a jackass, he later trully does grow up to be a ally of justice and the manga has some trully god tier mechas, from the anime you should just take the soundtrack and stay as far away as you can, chapters 001-105 you can find on batoto, chapters 105-107 you can find on their siteOr mangafox and such other sites
7 years ago (circa boxing day 2007), we were giving a glimpse at Macross Frontier. It's been 7 years, /m/. How has your opinion on the show changed over the 7 years? Do you like it more than you did while it aired or less? Also, I plan on streaming the entire series.
>that feel when no more nyan nyan nyan posting
>that feel when no more Sheryl vs Ranka thread
>that feel when no more Sky end jokes
>that feel when no anon to do the math on Klan's tits
>that feel when no more Macross F music
>that feel when no more jokes about space aids
>that feel when we won't ever get another year of the dead snipers.
There's always the new Macross coming up.
I watched it when it was airing but I gave up on the discussion threads.
>>11955655
I remember digging the fuck out of the preview ep.
Where can I get one of these mass produced cuties? Also I'm really liking this show so far, even if I have to take a break every now and then. It feels tense.
>not binge-reading the manga instead
>watching JJ Abrahms: the anime
just kidding, it's an okay series
read the manga tho
>>11954837
They're not mass-produced, they're just a lot of sisters/ septuplets/whatever.
It's a meh series. The entire thing being done in CG just feels half-assed.
That and the shit plot armor for them.
"We don't know how this shit works, but we can make it work."
