Legitimate question, why should I give a damn about anything that happens in UC Gundam if nothing ever gets better until G-Reco thousands of years later and every sequal undermines the sacrifices of the cast of the previous series?
I don't care how "unrealistic" the endings of Wing: Endless Waltz ad 00: Awaking of the Trailblazer are, they gave meaningful closure to protagonists struggles and give you hope for the future of humanity. UC just gives you despair at the end most of the time.

Why should you give a damn about reality if nothing ever improves after thousands of years? That's basically what Tomino is shooting for. Individual lives may improve but war is a constant. He doesn't really do a great job of it though since he often doesn't give much of a sense of closure and past Char's Counterattack the series are spread out enough chronologically that they start to feel disconnected, giving little sense of social change. Not helped that after Victory he started using social regression as a plot point.

Anyone else read this series yet? Got to the point of Riddens gelgoog being shown in storage somewhere.So far its the farthest Ive been able to find not even sure if the next volumes out yet.
Are there any sources with the full set, or the rest if anymore been translated? Any recommendation similar to this series? General discussion I guess.
Love the story so far, the suits used, finally figuring out what happened to Ridden. Some funny moments but mostly loving the variants and art style when suits are in combat so far.

Well, for what it's worth, Shin Matsunaga appears in Gundam Evolve 9 under the codename "Geay Wolf" piloting the "Gray Zeta" (which is not gray at all, but oh well).

I just finished Dairanger and I have to ask:
Why does nobody ever attempt to destroy Daijinryuu? He kills far more people than the Gorma do and can't be reasoned with. Even if you accept that Gorma will betray the Dairangers in any truce, they could still make a truce, let the Dairangers try to get rid of Daijinryuu, and then immediately attack the Dairangers if they survive. Nobody benefits from this thing being around and everyone loses if it blows up the planet, so why do they just kind of accept Daijunryuu's existence? Even at the end it's still out there, being much more dangerous than anything that the villains ever did.
Also, wow, the entire last story arc was basically pulled out of their asses, wasn't it?
