Did anyone else watch Space Battleship Yamato 2199?
>>13882001
I've been interested, but I'd like to watch the other Yamato entries first.
>>13882056
Might I ask why? You can go into the series blind as this one is a reboot, and a superbly well-done one at that.
>>13882063
Why do that when you can just watch the original instead though?
>Is named Aina
>doesn't have the poofy 90s lesbian haircut
I already want this dumb cunt to die.
>>13881584
Isn't her name Kudelia (guaranteed to be localized as Cordelia) and she's at least better than Aina.
You mean
>no air intake cut
>>13881593
"Kudelia" is from the official subs you dumbass.
Alright, /m/, I made it through Mobile Suit Gundam, Gundam Zeta, Unicorn, 00, IBO (ongoing), Thunderbolt (ongoing), G-Reco, and am having too much mood whiplash after Zeta to get deep into ZZ. What gundam do I watch next?
I can't watch Turn A because I have a phobia of traps (no joke, my cousin was stabbed by the one he was dating when I was little while he was babysitting me and crossdressers have terrified me ever since), before you suggest it.
Loran isn't a crossdresser, though.

Don't know why you would watch Unicorn before finishing up the rest of UC but whatever. It seems like you've been watching all the super cereal Gundams when they can be much more lighthearted. Keep yourself open to it but don't be surprised if the whiplash does make it seem like a drag at first.
>stabbed by a trap he was dating
Trap? Reverse trap? Stabbed with his/her/its dick or with a weapon? What provoked this? This is much more interesting.
SEED and then Destiny.
It's a rite of passage.

Probably the creepiest episode of this show. Kids possessed by dark magic is fucking macabre. Call the exorcist.
This episode remember me ep.1 of Sharivan ("Hallucination") and ep.42 of Shaider ("Strangeness"). Enemies who can control dark magic are always hard to beat.

>Kids possessed by dark magic is fucking macabre. Call the exorcist.
Sounds like good old Uehara all right. He sure has a fixation for that kind of thing.
>>13881683
Totally.
Uehara wrote maybe 80%-90% of all space sherifs and juspion episodes. For me, he's synonym of "terror" in toku. Same shit for Kamen Rider Black ep.1... That beginning was creepy as fuck.
But, in my shitty opinion, Jiban (wrote by Keita Amemiya) was more viollent and got the 'goriest' scene of all tokus (ep. 34, when he got killed). Exaggerated, brutal and even nonsense for a kids show...
This is odd because if you look back, there are tons of episodes that can't be aired nowadays. Some of them because of creepy themes, other ones because of violence scenes (arm rips, decapitation...).
Now imagine an episode of this nature in open tv in 2016, for kids audience? No fucking way. "Impossibru". Tokus from 80's are pretty different, specially metal heroes.
I finally got around to watching this. Why was Gene so retarded and did Amuro's father just die in the first episode
GANDAMU
>>13880984
>did Amuro's father just die in the first episode
No, he didn't die but Ryu will and so will Lalah.
>>13880984
they address what happened to Amuro's father later on
Currently acquiring 0083. I've begun working on the color correction for it since it is, in fact, the now 10 year old 2006 transfer. The detail is *still* bad in the shadows, and it's simultaneously sad yet fascinating to see that this transfer has already aged so poorly. It makes little sense to me that Sunrise saw fit to redo the 2006 Outlaw Star transfer, but not this one. On the bright side, it has a decent amount of grain on it, and the edge enhancement is minimal.
As usual, I'm running some examples past you guys to see if the filtering is preferable. Let's start with the unfiltered BDMV.
>>13880605
Delaz's shading here presents a good opportunity to see how the luma curve I'm applying works. This is with a photoshop curve (applied in AVS) and halo removal, plus some dithering to compensate for the shadow lift.
A double-exposure highlight from an explosion gives me an easy way to gauge where the white level can be boosted too. It's not quite as easy as simply maxing out the histogram (it's still below 255, as shown in the picture), because many other shots suffer when you put it this high, but it helps a lot.
>>13880621
Filtered version. The white point is significantly higher, but still not maxed out.
yesterday at the mall I saw a BR wearing a Sharivan t shirt
North Korean news outlets must be getting super lazy.
Nice tweet.

the brigandish madmen must cease their boundless ambitions to gib moni pls
Apparently Mazinkaizer SKL from the Versus manga is different enough from the OVA to warrant its own toy.
Which Mecha would he pilot?
Hard mode:Gundam Only
HARDEST MODE:EARLY UC ONLY
Gouf
>>13879756
>stipulates gundam only
>obviously should be piloting vf 19
>>13879805
That's what makes it hard, anon.
I'm making my way through watching Gundam for the first time.
I've watched everything produced before Turn A except for Wing, Victory, X, and F91. I wanted to wait to watch everything made before it to get the full experience, but Victory has been kind of a slog so far.
How much will I miss out on by skipping the 90's Gundam shows?
Most of the Gundam shows are self-contained.
>>13879393
Well, you can go ahead and watch it really.
You'll only miss a few references here and there (Corin's split second flashback).
Though if you're going to watch it, do watch it with the official subs that's already available.
>>13879393
Not much. Most of Turn-A's references are from UC. There's a very little of G Gundam in there, too.
happy belated valentines day you goddamn fucks
>http://www.nyaa.se/?page=view&tid=785605
I barely even remember what was happening in the show lastas a side note, if you have any idea what I said I'd be working on project-wise, please remind me, cause I don't remember
>>13879153
Happy President's Day!
Thanks.
>>13879153
>if you have any idea what I said I'd be working on project-wise, please remind me, cause I don't remember
This fucking guy.
What the fuck is up with Hatari's left brow?
Mobile Suit F91
I just finished this movie for the first time- what the actual fuck did I just watch?
I understand it was originally intended as a 50 episode series and was cut off early in production, but really what the fuck.
The story was almost literally all over the place.
Cecily/Berah jumped ship, then back in what? 30 minutes within the movie? She sure didn't seem conflicted or whatever, as she described later.
And Annamarie... she literally sees Zabine with Cecily and then defects immediately??
The only thing likable about this movie seemed to be Zabine, Crossgaurd designs, and seeing Jegans so far in the future that they're pretty much useless junk.
>>13878819
Iirc the plot takes place over the course of a year
>>13878858
that would make some sense but is never really stated at all in the entire movie
>>13878819
The story-telling is par for course for a Gundam series.
Tell me about Bask! Why does he wear the goggles?
>>13878579
You ever try wearing glasses in zero-G?
Because he was tortured during the OYW
Also to help in building the Technodrome.
>>13878579
Because Bask is 2Kawaii4U
whose fucking good idea was it to put 5 edgy as fuck gary stus as the main leads
Duo wasn't edgy, but for some reason was given the edgiest Gundam.
>>13878002
>Quatre
>edgy
>>13878002
Nobody ever said that anime writers were good at what they do.
Why did they even keep making Gundam after this?
>>13877947
Because it was good?
>>13877947
Because 8th MS was shit
