What does /m/ think about him?
>>13897915
Better MC than the alternative.
He's better than Jesus Yamato but that's about it.
>>13897915
If we're talking about his SRW version, I think he's great
If we're talking about in series>>13897923
but he's a bundle of wasted potential, and some of his scenes with Athrun are just fucking awful.
I just started watching heavy object. One nuke burned through about half of a first gen's armor, right?
So why didn't they just fire two or more nukes at it instead of completely redefining modern warfare?
Ask /a/ they care about this show more.
>>13885120
The fuck is a heavy object?
>>13885140
Vaguely like a Bolo.
Mecha has always been a somewhat niche genre in anime, but will we ever see another show that becomes crazy popular while airing? The last time we had a show go past 30k average sales was back in 2007/8 with Gundam 00, Macross Frontier, and Code Geass each coasting around 35-45k sales.
The only mecha shows that've passed the 10k average in the last 10 years are Gurren Lagann, Tiger & Bunny, Infinite Stratos (Both seasons), and Symphogear GX. Even shows like Reconguista in G and Aldnoah Zero barely make the 10k mark, even with having people like Tomino and Urobuchi to try and sell by name alone.
Basically, what will it take to get a blockbuster mecha anime in the next few years? Will IBO and Macross Delta make it past 10K on average?
how about we release a fuck ton of mecha anime at the same time? it seems we missed japan's cyberpunk year by a year or two, but i do recall that ARISE was a big hit. The fuchicoma's might not qualify as meca to you, as there is no pilot. However, they do to me represent a good indication of remote operated drone mecha of the future, being opperated entirely by voice.
>>13913137
IBO is not really possible, v2 is struggling past 9k, the v3 and subsequent volume drops will definitely lower the average. Macross Delta is a maybe at this point, but I wouldn't bank on it.
Didn't Akito do well enough for a another episode?
How did we go from this..
..to this?
Microwaves, mainly.
>>13902893
but gamma rays
Post phat mecha.
>>13904605
The Hazel units get me so hard it's almost ridiculous.
What's /m/s opinion on Getter Robo? Is it a series worth getting into because it's good, or is it better left alone due to it not actually being good and only being important for historical significance?

Fallout 4 power armor is:
[ ] Too huge.
[ ] Not huge enough.
I'll give it credit for looking like you would appropriately fit inside.
On the other hand, fuck it for not letting me attack a fist weapon to it when I'm inside.
Space marine is sleeping. Please don't wake him up.

[] perfectly sized.
So, I was dumb on my last 2 day weekend and didn't think to start this, but hey, it was the first month of the year, I didn't realize this was going to happen. Now that I have time, it's time to get to work on this.
/m/, the Great /m/ Chart is in need of some fixing. It's three fourths of a year out of date, has nothing from 2016, is missing a lot of key information, and in general is missing a lot of series from past years that I haven't gotten a good chance to edit in (or that I don't know exist). Not to mention that every time I look at this list I see a whole load of spelling errors, and the fact that half the series are translated and some of the others are half translated - see also Cho Kousoku Galvion being next to Heavy Metal L-Gaim.
So I'm calling for help, and I'm calling you.
>Any animated /m/ work (meaning it must heavily feature power armor or robots) is up for the list. If you like /m/ Toku or video games, that's perfectly fine - you can make a list of your own, to cover those.
>Compilation movies ARE ALLOWED. There was some debate on that last time I did major editing for this thing, and eventually I figured that it's probably going to be more worthwhile to allow them.
>There is a Google Doc of this thing... it is, however, badly out of date, missing several major updates (I think I last actually dug into the thing in 2014). After I'm done with the load of updates I'm probably going to need to do on this, I'll start working on that, and post a link to it.
I think that covers everything.
I'm the anon who originally remade it back in 2014. My copy is unfortunately even more outdated than yours. The old Google doc is hasn't been touched in a year
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1WoxAVg-WPptzvB4tWAjLuopghMwZBE8TaNLtLRKWIa8/edit?usp=sharing
I honestly thought you had taken over.
>>13901522
I did. But I'm pretty shit at actually finding series, and /m/ knows every obscure mecha show ever, so I get big editing things done.
Speaking of that pic, is there a good reason Rinne No Lagrange has an asterisk in it? It's been bugging me.
(the google doc I'm talking about is a different one.)
>>13901559
Well that sucks, but at least we have a starting point with the horribly outdated one unless you can re-upload your version, or some other guy saved the link. With the archive spotty now It's kinda hard to find links as conveniently as we used to.
Though if there is one thing I know about /m/ we're damn passionate about our hobby.
F6-402 looks pretty buff for a robogirl.
Does she work out?
>>13902879
of course she does, watch her flip these two dudes!also, what product does she use in her hair? how does she get it to look like that
The answer to all questions is. Nanomachines.
Any news on "Godzilla: Resurgence"? I barely heard about it this morning, so I'm out of the loop.
>>13818514
All we know is how it looks (barely).
>>13818759
Well, we also know the director, main cast, and release date.
If you didn't already know OP, Anno is directing this thing.
>>Anime scriptwriter Chiaki Morosawa has passed away. She was 56. Author and My Neighbor Totoro production coordinator Hirokatsu Kihara posted on his Twitter account on Monday that Sunrise told him the news. The Gundam.info portal site confirmed the news and revealed that she passed away on Friday, February 19 due to aortic dissection.
Looks like we're never getting that Seed Destiny movie that was never going to happen anyways.
rot in hell bitch.
>>13908849
Okay first off, we already have like three threads for this
and secondly,
>aortic dissection
WHAT IS THIS HORRIFYING THING THAT I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF UNTIL TODAY
>>13908849
>aortic dissection.
Yeah, and Iwata died due to a backed up Bile Duct.
Any drawfags here? How do you learn to design and draw mecha?
>>13856823
You draw mecha.
Learn the basics of art, then just copy stuff you like to get the overall feel of it. Eventually you'll be capable of drawing your own shit using the elements you copied. It helps if you know something about engineering as well but obviously that's no essential.
http://hubpages.com/art/how-to-draw-learn
>>13856823
learn to draw boxes. drawing a lot of transformers really helps
no need understanding for psychic or any no-fun elements like 3 cubism law or whatever do you call it.
as long it's looks cool, you're good to go
>>13856823
Yeah, boxes. Boxes are important.
But I would say that there are 2 big elements to designing mecha, one is knowledge of perspective and the other is a building up a visual library. Knowing perspective lets you know how to draw something, but having a visual library of mechanical parts in your mind helps you to come up with designs that don't look derivative. You pretty much have to look and draw lots of different things to build your own library. Don't just limit yourself to drawing Mecha, all the best mechanical designers from the 80's were from other backgrounds like fashion or industrial design.
Dont look into the sun!

First Gothicmade now this. Is this the future of mecha anime?
I'd rather know where the fuck subs for episode 2 are.

I'm just happy to see more anime characters with noses and average sized eyes
What kind of battle commander dresses like this?

ITT: Great-looking female characters who later change into a more conservative (and worse) look.
