This was complete shit. Perhaps it is good that the director died.
I watched all 12 episodes yesterday at 1.6x speed because I knew after the second episode that it would be a challenge to suffer this at normal speed. I had finished 0083 the night before and while that had a completely retarded story full of stupid shit, it at least had enough artistic merit for me to consider it decent. 08th MS Team on the other hand has a shit story and looks TV-quality most of the time. It has fugly characters designs too, though this was standard for the 90s. Most characters look like they belong in a rock band, not just the songwriter guy.
08th MS Team is the most generic anime I have ever seen. It is full of stupid unfunny cringeworthy shit. The biggest flaw of 08th MS Team is that it is too much like an anime. It has epic hot springs scenes where main character sees boobs XD, shit romance, tit-grabbing comic relief and randumb Cowboy Plebop loli - all things that retarded casuals love. I cannot comprehend how someone over the age of 14 could enjoy this.
I am completely baffled as to why this is so highly regarded even with normies. The only way someone could consider this one of the best entries in the series is if they have never seen another UC Gundam. People are always praising this for its realism but it is full of ridiculous plot armor and it is not anymore realistic than the other UC Gundam animes. If anything 08th MS Team is more cartoony than the rest of the series

My main gripe is that there was no reason for the three feddie mechs to be Gundams. The plot would have been more enjoyable and interesting with custom GMs or something instead. There was literally no "Gundam-like feat" or "superhuman piloting" that tends to be the subtext whenever Gundams are shown.
All in all, i still hated the show. It's a waste of time when you have webms of the nice scenes.

The Ground Gundam's are the federal stimulus first 'production' suits, using the term loosely even then. They're all made, literally, of leftover RX-78 parts from various stages of the program. They built like 30 of them and left some 78-1/2 parts over as spares for them.

Yeah, I think the designs going to suffer either way since they're leaning so heavy on the alien aesthetic. Whether it's CGI or physical suits, the crew still needs to make sure they conform to human proportions. That's not going to work when the designs themselves are stretched and skewed.
