Not every girl is the same. They are people just like you and me, with different personalities and varying taste in anime.

What does she like? If she is more impressed by the writing and direction of a series you could start her off with more classic series like Mobile Suit Gundam, VOTOMs, Giant Robo (OVA), etc

If she's more into contemporary anime aka weeaboo garbage like Attack on Titan or whatever else is airing on Adult Swim then maybe try showing her more shiny stuff like Evangelion, Gundam Seed, TTGL, Eureka 7 or Code Geass

I'd try Macross DYRL or escaflowne
Really though none of us know her as well as you do. We can't really make a recommendations on what she wants unless you tell us what you know she likes in the first place. You gave us one romance anime she liked that's not really a lot to go on. Romance is also a catch all genre.

Turn-A, the White Doll, was essentially the Zeus of this mythos, with regards to being both the leader and the most powerful. Though unlike Zeus, he was compassionate rather than petty. To this end, Turn-A himself fused with the planet in order to ensure the success of his gift, leaving the protection of the Earth to the remaining Pantheon.

Wing Gundam, The Goddess of Beauty, is speculated to be the actual inspiration behind what we call Angels in the Catholic and Christian religion. Literallly the same dropping rate that Reco had, 10k > 7k. Unless you're counting the first volume but this is dumb because it was half price. Hell, I remember months ago G-Reco arguing, and they were right, that you can't compare G-Reco's first volume to IBO's because of the price, that a fair comparision was v2 vs v2.

why does everyone (every male character at least) do the same weird square mouth gaping talking animation? It's quite overused, heck most of the time it seems to be from the same angle too

Nah it's so much better than that, it's like one movie of Half-Vader, then 2 movies of full fledged Darth Vader just fucking shit up. Also there's no lame "fall to the dark side", Char is just a psychopath, always was.

I can see how someone wouldn't like it, but I really enjoy the ridiculous Char wanking.

Other than being a major early digital anime title, little to none. It made TMR a lot more famous and was a popular series with women. It gave Gundam an extra kick in the pants and 'may' have resulted in the higher number of series we've seen produced after 2000, but that can just as easily be tributed to Unicorn.

Actually, Seed's biggest aspect was being a major title for pirating. It was one of the first newly airing anime series to get a large foreign audience as it aired week by week, coinciding largely with the rise of bittorrent. At first, I got early episodes from naptster and other such programs, but by the end of the show, torrents took over and changed everything.
