Hey, sorry if there is a general thread for this, but I just finished Gundam Thunderbolt.
I found the animation/music pretty good (i'm kind of new to the genre). I was wondering if there were any other mecha series with animation as good as or better than this. I watched various iterations of Mazinger Z and Getter Robo and am a fan of the specific sound effects they use in older mecha shows (it's hard to convey through text, but hopefully you know what I mean)
TLDR; what are some shows with good hand-drawn animation or music?

The best thing about Gundam Unicorn is the OST and the animation is pretty good, the CGI is used mostly only when it's reasonably necesary (Unicorn transforming)
Turn A has amazing music and the art is gorgeous but I don't know how well it has aged.

Is Byston Well one of the most unique and interesting settings in mecha?
Dunbine is certainly one of the best outputs in mecha at least. Plenty of colorful mecha with cool insect motifs along with a fairy tale-ish atmosphere. And Tomino's finest finale that perfectly wraps up the story with plenty of action.
It's unfortunate that none of the other entries in the setting have been well received because they look pretty cool.

Makes sense back in the manga maybe, but all modern interpretations of the RX-78 have a swiveling mount is for. This just makes it so that when he looks left in his normal stance, Amuro can't see shit.
Besides, if you want to get technical; if the RX-78-02 held the shield the proper way a shield would be mounted normally, it would be sideways.

I don't know if this really is /m/ related, but I think it important to tell you guys anyway.
Independence Day: Resurgence is trash.
Not even corny patriotic "wild ride" trash.
Straight up garbage.
The pacing is terrible, the acting is terrible, the humor is terrible, the sfx are terrible, and the vfx are terrible. It was overall unenjoyable.
Even the dogfights were total ass and had no sense of tension whatsoever.
