What is the "Space Funeral" of literature?
>>
Space Funeral is literature.
>>
>>7320277
I don't recall literature having gameplay and a god-tier soundtrack.
>>
Good game, OP. Very fun. It's hard finding an equivalent for the mixture of eerie darkness, comedy elements, and sketchy designs the game implements, though.

Faust, by Goethe is the closest I can think of. But Faust is really more masterfully crafted and not as abrasive through intentional design as Space Funeral is.

What's the literary equivalent of Goblet Grotto?
>>
>>7320287
This is awesome.
>>
Kafka, Borges, maybe Mieville
>>
>>7320561
This was a trick question, btw. Goblet Grotto is literature. The writing is even from one of my favorite contemporary writers.
>>
>biting parody of existing genre/form
>language and writing which bridges low/high culture divide
>plot spanning the world, but centering on two dudes going to find a third
>hot fucking tunes

Not memeing, but Pynchon's V. to bh
>>
>>7321908
I wouldn't call it a biting parody. More a surreal parody.
>>
>>7320567
You'll probably like this then.

Is that Gillian Anderson?
>>
>>7321889
who wrote it?
>>
>>7322212
The game is collaborative project between the guy who made Space Funeral (thecatamites) and someone else whose writing and other creative work I've been following for a few years. It's no one famous, but you can find out who it is by looking it up.
>>
>>7320263
>Space Funera
thanks for this op, looks really interesting

Try Yume Nikki and Pathologic alongside it.
>>
>>7324043
.flow is better than both imo
>>
>>7324051
>.flow

Haven't played it but from what I've seen it can't really outdo the original, the art direction is weaker through mimicry for start.
>>
>>7324051
YN is a million times better than any of the clones. Sorry.

But speaking of weird RPG Maker games, the French game OFF is another interesting one.
>>
I tried downloading it, it's not working. I get a white screen, but I can hear the music

J Chastain is one of our greatest of the greatest chroniclers of the modern condition and I say that in all sincerity
>>
>>7324078
Are there any others you'd recommend? I've heard Valhalla the bartending sim is worthwhile

She's a talented actress but I'm not sure I'd go that far.
>>
>>7322175
Ruth White reading Baudelaire
>>
>>7325802
I agree but she mostly works in comics and video games (afaik), so it's weird to talk about her on /lit/ even though /co/ and /v/ are garbage
>>
What is the "Pathologic" of literature?
>>
>>7325856
by this you mean like throwing her voice online?
>>7325909
true but I mostly don't really like video games but I really like her stuff (and the catamites' stuff) so rightly or wrongly I think of her work having more in common with /lit/ stuff than with like, whatever Metal Gear: Call of Duty /v/ talks about (I don't actually know what /v/ talks about)

Twine games seem like they have more in common with literature overall anyway

Also Metal Gear Solid games are the greatest video games of all time and highly sophisticated on an artistic level
>>

can you not?
i have a rare heart disease
and if I laugh too much
i will die
>>
>>>/v/

When will games stop feeling the pathetic need to pretend at depth?

>>7325977
Nah man, this is the greatest sequence in any video game ever: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgaYe4ZYYyY
>>
>>7325981
This thread is specifically asking for book recommendations. It could not be more on topic.
>>
>>7325946
Anyway I think /v/ is still mostly talking about Undertale which is a shitty Homestuck-tier indie game that you'd probably like :)
>>
>>7325989
Ey man, Undertale is fun
>>
>>7326011
But is it the Ulysses of the Internet???
>>
>>7325962
it's probably true that MGS are the greatest video games of all time but that mostly serves to remind me how not at all interested I am in video games
>>7325989
I was unironically interested in this one already though, thanks m8. I dont know shit about Homestuck except for that funny bad video about how its Ulysses
>>
>>7326045
Have you played Kentucky Route Zero? Probably the best indie game of the past few years IMO.
>>
>>7326052
haven't but thanks for the rec friendo

>>7326974
It's just Ulysses, actually. Homestuck is the Ulysses of the internet.
