Just lower your usual standard a bit. If you cared that much about the quality of this particular paper, you would have started far earlier. There are fun papers where you immerse yourself in research exploring the topic, and there are mundane papers that just have to be finished for the sake of being finished; this sounds like the latter.

Lots in first year. 1000 word essay essentially means -show you know how to format an essay and basic formal elements. Also it's to make students really narrow in on a point to explore, rather than try something way too broad, which is a good way to approach larger essays down the road.

Honest advice, try to get through your first draft asap. Don't just scribble nonsense but don't try to make it your final draft just yet.

Don't look at it for two hours. Then go back to it and revise for a little bit.

Go to sleep. Wake up and look at it a third time. Revise. Then print it out and go turn it in.

I know this is some rudimentary shit but getting an early draft done on college papers and revising them little by little made getting good grades on them easy and not a total pain in the ass.

This is spot on advice. I always thought about how to write something that would tie together into a nice essay, but if you just say fuck it and keep writing whatever is on your mind, you can finish 1000 words in under an hour. Most of the time, you don't even get that bad of a grade. It's better to pass marginally (most professors don't fail you unless it's completely unrelated/trash) and stop worrying about having an essay due. Enjoy you're full nights sleep.

OP that's like three pages, and that topic should be incredibly easy to carve a thesis out of. Just compare and contrast the two guys about just one of those issues.
