What was the last interesting article you read /lit/?

For me it was this piece about Adam Lanza's father: http://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2014/03/17/the-reckoning

Came out last year, but only read it a while ago. Offers a good insight into Lanza's past without pushing for any contrived answers or reasons for his shooting.

Hey anon, thanks for the great article.

This article was published about a year ago. It's by GQ but a surprising good read.

I also thought this four-part series about "The Outlaw Ocean" from the New York Times was fascinating.

Old article on Kita Ikki's theory of Revolution. He's often lambasted as a fascist but is actually very misunderstood, I also never realised how opposed Mishima was to him

That top article is just absurd.

"The male novelists performing elaborate genuflections toward female readers are perhaps not exactly bargaining so much as trying to draw us into a new contract: I, the author, promise always to acknowledge my characters’ narcissism, and you, in return, will continue to take an interest in it."

I don't understand, do authors really place this much effort into pandering to females? Like fuck, write what you want and someone will read it or they won't.

Must everything be couched in politically correct anti-masculine terms?

It's genuinely a thing that happens now though. There are a lot of works where the male character or narrator treats women like human garbage, and then when pressed, the author points out that we're supposed to recognize that the male character is self-centered. You also see it with other media and other topics: I read an interview with the band Ghost Bath where they were asked if they thought it was dishonest to pretend to be a Chinese band to get signed to a Chinese label and they pretty much said, "lol yeah, we suck right?". People mistake doing something consciously for doing the right thing.

All of the Paul Graham essays I've read are good but I think this one is the best one to post here as a starting point because it will feed into /lit/'s superiority complex very easily.
