What's a good, inspiring book for a young man with no direction or masculine role models in his life to read?
>>

I've read a few of their suggested readings, the relationship/women thing is whatever but aside from that their suggestions generally deal with getting your shit together and not being a faggot.
>>
>>7308659
>The Red Pill: Discussion of sexual strategy in a culture increasingly lacking a positive identity for men.

Incel means involuntary celibate.

I take it that your idea of getting your shit together is fucking as many women as possible? You must be one of these modern faggots sweating over being Alpha and Beta.

Literally fuck off back to Reddit.

Kill yourself idiot. The redpill is fake masculinity without any authenticity, just capitalist competition within an socially left reality. You are dumb if you think woman should be an end, or that you should validate through them. You are allowing them to win than way and masculinity is exactly not allowing them to do that.

OP should read Young Werther or The Red and the Black.

depends on temperament.
someone weak and decadent needs life affirming stuff like nietzsche.
a healthy but aimless normie needs sum schopenhauer as educator.
hemingway seems to be nietzschean except for his early short stories and the pessimist "the sun also rises".
a patrician will end up reading everything anyway.

/redpill is superficially life-affirming but culminates in moving to mount athos

Yep.

The main tenents of the redpill is:

1) lift weights so you can physically complement your mental masculinity, i.e. learn how not to be a punk bitch by doing something actually hard for once.

2) stop doing stuff just to get a woman -- do stuff for yourself you will you find women somehow invade into it and you will get a girlfriend/wife/whatever

3) be kind and help your fellow brothers

my dad died when i was about 10, and i feel like i am also missing a masculine role model of sorts, even though i think having a role model itself is kind of unecessary, there's still this lingering feeling of never having had something others did

Ahh finally a discussion worth of my attention! *Tips Fedora* Well Boys to make the transition from Boy to Man, you have to learn from the Redpill Masters... Hemingway, Frank Sinatra, Al Capone These are all REAL MEN not faggy swagboys like Justin Bieber and Chris. Nothing more manly than sipping on a fine glass of ol´ whiskey in a classy suit in a piano bar, thats how you do it boys! I still dont have a girlfriend, but thats because most of them cant handle my elegance and supreme taste. I also recomemd to read Sir Edgar Allan Poe and to get some classy retro game tattoos! (I masturbate to lolicon)

Take a moment to consider that with the rampant divorce rate and ever increasing fatherless households that many young males honestly do not understand how to be masculine.

And your mis-characterization of masculinity as something idiotic and immature is, truthfully, just your projection.

>>
>>7308725
I kind of agree with you

I used to be active there, not anymore because I'm through and bored with it. there's some different interpretrations about the stuff and what the "end goal" is supposed to be.

some guys just go for the "get rich as fuck, fuck women, do cocaine", the american psycho yuppie thing. personally I never saw the point

some assert the entire point about the thing is the ability to make independent choices a.k.a not giving a fuck, while not closing your eyes from reality. a.k.a you're probably happier if you make decent money and get laid, but you shouldn't sell your soul for them because in the end what does that shit matter? more existentialst. personally I preferred this approach

then you go outside of the redpill zone towards MGTOW zone which is basically "ignore bitches, ignore rat racenot worth the trouble, do your own thing". IMO the premise is not incorrect but when taken too far it's just an excuse to give up on society which I personally wouldn't do, because you're a human after all, no matter how much you despise the fact

anyway I don't have any books to recommend. you could check book of pook and models by mark manson, but please take them with a grain of salt

also watch gran torino. it's not the greatest example of storytelling but you might find it inspiring
>>
>>7308617

That seems like a pile of trash.
I read the second article and it was terrible.

First he tells you that "finding your life's purpose" is bullshit. Good enough.
Then he goes on to tell me that actually you should go and find value through work and grow as a human being (he just redefines what "life's purpose" means).

Just find a job you love and get rich lmao!

[actual quote from the article] (Not sure what you’re good at? Spend time exploring what you have a knack for)

This is lackluster and complete shit advice.
On second thought I hesitate to even call it advice, because, really, it doesn't qualify as anything like that.

All this shit is like one of those "life is AWESOME and EPIC" images/infographics from reddit

>>
>>7317285
I disagree - the herbivore men have the right idea. There's very little out there for us and only less so the more people there are, the more society moves on in ways some of us can't handle it.

So why bother? We've one life, as far as we know, and if they want to spend it in absentminded pleasure, all the more power to them. I wish I had the same freedom to do so.

SCUM deals with how our projected 'masculinity' is really just a coping mechanism for most men's crippling insecurity and inability to form meaningful relationships with others. It's a very good read if you're open to relentlessly criticizing your conception of self and what it means to be a 'man'. Partially satirical, but most (not all) of her serious points are pretty spot on, in my opinion.

But if you're having a crisis already I don't know if the SCUM manifesto would help much beyond maybe getting you to suicide
>>
>>7317763
I'm going to make the point that a women can never know masculinity. Recommending that to a man trying to learn to be comfortable in his masculinity (especially in this climate of "masculinity is insecurity/coping mechanism/last century") will only hurt that man in the long run.

TRP is a toxic wasteland. If you want to be unhappy, by all means get sucked into that hate filled circle jerk. There's literally nothing of value there though. The only reason people return there is to validate their belief that women are shit because their ex cheated on them.

Just look at the top threads of all time. Number 1 is a revenge post about "black-knighting" a girl.

It's filled with weak losers who write in the most fedora of fashions. They really come across as though 90% of the subscribers there were virgins, teaching other virgins how to get laid.

The autism there is just embarrassing.

The self victimization of the male species, the constant reminder that women are pieces of shit, the overriding negative sentiments there. It's all just bullshit for weak men who can't handle reality.

What is there to be gleaned from that place? You could literally boil it all down to
1) Lift weights
2) Don't be a pussy

Any more time spent there just negatively affects the mood. It's a waste of time. You're surrounding yourself with other weak men who are desperately trying to break the cycle, but are effectively reinforcing beta insecurities into each others minds.

why would i waste a half hour reading some chick's ramblings on how masculinity is insecurity. sounds like your typical substance-less bitchfest designed to make women feel better about their own weakness.

masculinity/strength is not a reaction to insecurity (or not necessarily) it's a reaction to seeing the possibility of power / dominance / control and striving to seize it.

power is worth having for it's own sake, anyone who says otherwise is an adversary selling you lies.

Ayy everyone, this is what I meant when I recommended trp. It's not bait. You can cipher something useful if you at least toy with it.
>keep your mind open
>don't passively Accept what everyone believes to fit in

Someone referred to this subreddit and was proclaiming it's misogyny and all this other shit about fedoras and neckbeards so I checked it out. It is definitely filled with thirsty neckbeards and autism but it's a bunch of bros who are unhappy and want to change their lives.

There is an obsession with the dark triad of personality on there and it's almost like they worship it. Machiavelli is one of the most referred to authors on there. Robert greene's 48 laws of power, all this shit about manipulating others to get what you want. All the sjw/feminist bashing shows that the men on here arguing against what they perceive (proclaim to perceive) as bullshit boils down to someone taking their candy without permission. Or how /pol/ is obsessed with the same things and freedom of speech. This can be cringy but meh. The subs content has a lot of humor.

>muh liberties

It's pretty much, stop being a bitch, take care of your body, don't care about women and don't make them the center piece of your endeavors, work towards shit and be productive. The subreddit talks about women a shit ton, it's ironically the center piece of it. The shit they say about women; they're all gold digging whores, the gold is subjective to woman. If your girlfriend cheats on you it's your fault, women are programmed to be opportunistic an manipulative. If a woman had interest in you, something about you is valuable. Value is derived from evolutionary biology, I'm ignorant of evolutionary biology and most likely so is the rest of the sub but if you agree with determinism and evolution I guess an intuition that claims that men provide women resources to raise offspring could make sense. The mechanisms that drive this in humans is constant but because of intelligence and all the complexities of the human experience the things we do may not exactly match this but the underlying structure remains.

The autism from the sub comes from systemizing things. I'm not full fledged autist but I certainly systemize and the logic presented makes sense to support their claims for the systems they create. I think that them holding so tightly to these systems is silly. They want no deviation from the system. They want it to make sense. So women get stereotyped and put in boxes. Awalt (all women are like that) they preach this shit and despite me not completely believing it it's funny to see it everyday. Like hey these fellas might be on to something.

Take what you want from it.

>>7308711
No I have a girlfriend and what the sub claims to be as oneitis. You know how Buddhists say that if you have desires you will suffer, I think they try to cope with this by rationalizing and not expecting anything. It's a good tactic I guess.
