I hope we can live in a world where there is no more anti-semitism or bigotry. Oh the poor Jews, the poor Jews. I'm glad that Shakespeare, who was well versed in the holocaust, chose to portray him as the persecuted saint he was-- Or was that done by Jewish revisionists?

Can I be the one genuinely honest unironic person in this thread and say it's Hamlet by a mile, followed by Falstaff and Coriolanus.

Malvolio from Twelfth Night.

Lucio from Measure for Measure is also hilarious.

Laertes. Hamlet is such a dick to him, he literally ruins the dude's whole life

daily reminder that Prospero is literally the best Shakespeare character ever and everything is wrong
>>
>>7308376
Iago did literally nothing wrong.
It's not his fault Othello is a complete retard. He should have gotten the promotion as he was the best.
>>
>>7310102
Iago is a great character
>>
>>7310231
Iago is a dramatic ploy, pure evil for little to no reason.

He literally says "haha, I'm gonna be evil!"

Shakespeare usually didn't create such 'characters' --- in the etymological sense of the term ---, but, rather, individuals.
>>
>>7310236
Iago is one of SHakespeare's most vivid personalities (intelligent, nihilistic and with a wicked sense of humor) and his lack of clear motivation doesn't change that

No Mercutio?

Loved his jests and his awesome rage dialogue when he gets mortally wounded.

I've always been really interested in the clowns he uses, Like Touchstone and Feste, or the two in Hamlet (who I always imagine as clowns in full regalia, wandering the cemetery.)

dude i agree. ophelia is by far shakespeare's hottest female character.

"In her excellent white bosom," hamlet writes in his love letter to her. act i, scene ii. then, later, in act iii, scene i, hamlet even calls her "fair" (like her skin) and compares her to a "nymph."

and dude, have you ever even SEEN paintings of nymphs? all naked and grabbing at dudes from in the water and shit. i mean, GODDAMN, that shit's hot. alright friend, i'll give you some advice: look it up. look up "nymph." google it. you won't be disappointed. man.

fuckin' ophelia, i swear.

Hamlet

Very easily one of Shakespeare's most introspective characters.

Denmark is a prison to him, even though he is prince. In the right mindset anything is a prison.

Also, the To be or not to be speech is phenomenal.

Not every villain has to have areas of gray and a sob story to be fucking good. Iago is actually likeable because he's so mean-spirited and ridiculously good at fucking with all the characters... He gives bullshit reasons for his actions as if he has to justify his acts to himself. But in the end he's just an asshole who is ridiculously quick witted, and it's a real pleasure to see him work.
>>
>>7310548
Mercutio is literally the only reason I don't completely dismiss R&J as shit. Definitely Shakespeare's worst play.
>>
>>7318941
Poor Brutus. I always feel for him because he's the best man in the play and his fatal flaw is essentially just being naive and "too" honorable.
>>
>>7309517

I don't think Hemmingway is a Shakespeare character mate
>>
>>7319121
