What are some good books about Poker (Texas Hold 'Em of course)? I play with my friends from time to time and would like to improve.

To be honest it's quite easy; Bob raped me in my sleep.
Do the readers of YA novels actually care about worldbuilding, or is it all a pretext for drama?
Megalacrosse City: a futuristic dystopia where your social ranking is determined by lacrosse skill! Can Namina McProtagonist find the golden lacrosse related object, or will she be sidetracked by a protracted and angsty love quandrangle with three hot billionaire lacrosse captains?
Why does /lit/ obsess over people reading YA novels? Are you all so desperately insecure that you need to bully people anonymously on the internet to feel better? Why not discuss books you actually read and like?
2013 was a long time ago. I believe dystopian settings have fallen out of fashion to an extent. Bigger focus on inclusivity. If you were trying to cash in I would recommend finding some excuse to make every character bisexual, though you'll still want your heroine's true love interest to be a boy.

Does that mean YA scifi is out of fashion?
YA is generally pretty stereotyped, so the plot is that everything is fucked up, and scifi is futuristic, therefore YA scifi is dystopian.
It's that thread again.

Machiavelli didn't look like that.

montesquieu "spirit of the laws", when I realized that this is the cause of the division of the 3 powers:
"constant experience shews us that every man invested with power is apt to abuse it, and to carry his authority as far as it will go. Is it not strange, though true, to say, that virtue itself has need of limits?
To prevent this abuse, it is necessary, from the very nature of things, power should be a check to power. "

Both in December of last year.

As a response to increasingly common incidents of inexcusable bad taste I propose that we rename Science Fiction & Fantasy General to /gwg/ Gene Wolfe General. Plebs need to know just from a glance at the OP in the catalog that Malazan and Sanderson aren't welcome here.

What /lit/ have to say about Celine? Are his writings any good?
>>9593008
He's an ass and you're fucking garbage. I'll kill you bitch.
I like him, but I know a lot of /lit/ doesn't like him.
If you met John Green, what would you ask him?
Can i fuck your wife?
Why do you descend to the level of your teenage readers, instead of calling them to rise up to your own level?
Spare some change?
So these are fucking good books.
Use of Weapons continues to blow me away
banks is shit. science fiction based on hippy ideology is inherently mediocre. his popularity makes him basically the sociological version of star wars.

Specify your trolling if you want to make it more effective.
Better to make a fist than a slap, right?
Anyways, what I love about the Culture series is that despite it featuring a Utopian society as a centrepiece, it is vehemently critical of that so called "Utopia"
Quite "anti-Hippy"
>>9592979
Really enjoyed Player of Games. Banks does a good job of showing the ugliness that lies beneath the facade of beauty.
Use of Weapons is next on my list.
Regarding the series as a whole - I like how all the books are only loosely connected. They all take place in the same universe, but are stretched out over hundreds/thousands of years. The only constant is the Culture itself.

Pic related. Obviously House On The Cliff was the best Hardy Boys book ever, considering how mediocre The Tower Treasure was.
