Wagecuck here. How do I make time for my writing?
Quit your job.
>>9634506
This.
Move in with your parents.
Yes, you will sometimes feel like you aren't doing much and maybe should be making money. But that is precisely the moment when you are letting go of your internalized slave mentality and opening the door to your own inner greatness.
>>9634502
what are your hours and whats your job?
>get depressed about not going to college
>never going to have four years to develop intellect
>come across The Odyssey Online
>mfw I dodged a bullet
>Going away to college was one of the best decisions I ever made. I learned more about myself and a new culture than I would have if I went somewhere closer to home. I learned more about the people more than anything. I learned how their school systems were and different vocabulary they used. I learned how to be more independent because I didn't have a choice. I couldn't just run home every time things got tough.

As the EIC of my uni's Odyssey branch I can confirm that 99% of our writers are retarded chicks who think they're really "#relatable" and never read.

Do you get to put this on your resume as a 'published' article or something? I don't see why anyone would write one of these.
Which books would you recommend to inspire a love of reading in a 12 year old child?
I used to read these Great Illustrated Classics which was really nice. Maybe Redwall.

Hi /lit/
I wrote a poem whilst procrastinating this morning, let me know what you think;
我把我的薯片分享给妳
妳如果不把它吃掉
我也不会在意
妳如果直接扔到垃圾桶
我也不会怪妳
但我并不会
再把我的薯片
分享给妳
Readers familiar with 任航 (RIP) will probably find a lot of parallels with his works (I'm a big fan). Maybe being a Chinese learner I'm a bit biased towards 白話 poetry, but I think there are a lot of good writers (notably 席慕蓉 and 顧城) who write using 白話 yet still have a considerable amount of depth in their poetry.
>>9634279
How long have you been studying chinese? Mandarin or cantonese? Do you use any particular system or book to learn hanzi?
MADE IN CHINA
>>9634279
No offense but I've seen poems written by primary school students that are better than this (stylistically at least); granted, they are natives speakers and you are a learner. The idea is somewhat fine, but the execution needs a lot of polishing up.
>妳如果直接扔到垃圾桶
You need an object for this sentence. Sounds really clunky.
>我也不会在意
Drop the 也 here. It's unnecessary.
What Chinese poems have you read before?
What are some books on arguing?
I must win more debates.
Just yell louder than the other person. And if all else fails, say something like, "You're obviously too suborn. I won't bother arguing with you anymore."
>>9634089
Disgusting sophist.
Learn by example, Plato argues really fucking well. Look up to Schop's Art of Being Right for an example of how to catch on to what your opponent is doing and call them a jackass.

>Americans call it "one of the greatest American novels of all time"
>It's literally High School Lit tier
What did they mean by this?
they didn't have anything better in that page count range, give it a rest
>>9633615
It's quite well written, even if it is rather simplistic. The closing lines are really very good.

What is High School Lit in other countries?

So lets be real, we need something like the Gold meritocracy. I get that the whole point is that they became decadent and too attached to material things, but coming from the weak western society we live in right now, it almost looks ideal. We need militarism. I wouldn't go as far as they do in the books, with the brutal crackdown on every other colors and the culling of half the upper caste, but I would instate mandatory military service. Obviously not for the purpose of sending our young men to die in Afghanistan, but for the purpose of raising standards of even the sub average citizens.

yeah, I figured I would get that. So, do you have a non-authoritarian cure for decadence?
>>9633501
jesus nikka
Any hobo books around? Novels or nonfiction I don't care, but I would prefer as modern stuff as possible.
Jack Tully - Beggars of Life
Jack Black - You Can't Win
Sisters of the Road - Boxcar Bertha
and basically most zines written in the 90s were by couch hobos mythologising their slacker lifestyles.
>>9633484
Appriciated.
Also found 'Hobos, Hustlers, and Backsliders'.

Did you acquire intellectual humbleness once you got into college?
I got into a top university in Europe last year to study Philosophy and it has crushed any notions of prowess I previously held.
College made me real eyes how smart but lazy I am.
btw this is not literature
>inb4 some faggot says you can't be humble if you say you're humble
>>9633400
Humility came after college when I got fuckin' rekt by people smarter than me and by people with twice as much power than me yet half the mental horsepower. Also "street smarts" or situational/practical intelligence is real. I'm leftist scum but working taught me a lot more (humility included) than school.
