>when he reads for the plot
This is unironically a great post
>>9686962
When he reads for the plot a woman holds her hand up and farts?

Just saw The Pervert's Guide to Ideology, what do I think of that? Also recommend me a book by Zizek. Do I need any previous knowledge to read him?
Peterson is the new meme intellectual, stupid communist

How do I save a pretentious youth who thinks that big words=good writing
>>9686239
Big words can aid in good writing. Pacing and such.
don't bother. you can't teach anyone if they're unwilling to listen. they'll have to learn for themselves.
>>9686242
No cheating; you have to post it no matter how embarrassing it is.

Which are today's sacred cows we can't critique?
Nonwhites and women.
Black "people" and feminazis
white trash snowflakes who are too innocent and pure to go to college and get some fucking skills relevant in the 21st century
What does /lit/ think about Jack Kerouac, On the Road, and Beat Generation writers/poets in general?
Very little. They are non-entities to me.
>>9685910
I like what Hofstadter said about them. Their modus operandi is emblematic of mindless "process" and nothing more. There is no consideration, thought, nuance, or overarching point to their work. They are nothing but style, and poor style at that.

The rest of you enjoyed Candide, no?
My nig.

I was going to buy pic related (https://www.bookdepository.com/Malloy--Malone-Dies--the-Unnamable-Samuel-Beckett/9780375400704) and was wondering whether it was worth it. Has anyone here read Beckett, and, if so, are these good stories? Any recommendations?
>>9685318
Thanks anon. I never check the catalog because I'm a faggot.
>>9685303
Yes, it's worth it, specially that edition (hardback, introduction, the three novels).
What did he mean by this, /lit/?
>>9685294
He means he has the mustache so that he can take the fart smell around with him in his day to day routine when he's not being actively farted on. Sort of like a camel, but with Nora's farts.
>>9685294
oh fuck buddy seems like james joyce was being pretty whacky

>Joyce never lived long enough to experience what it's like to stream Brazilian fart porn completely free of charge
So I've just finished the first book of Fagles' translation of the Iliad. Pretty underwhelming so far to be frank. Only good thing I can say about it is that it's managed to evoke imagery in my mind, which almost never happens otherwise when I read.
Other than that it's just OK. Not bad, but not brilliant either. I know it's early to judge, but so far I'm actually a bit disappointed. Is there some major thing I'm missing here? Am I just too brainlet to understand it?
I honestly hope you die in real life.
Yeah, if you're bored just drop it now. Book II is pretty much a list of ships. You'll be bored to tears. Better just go back to reading Harry Potter and buzzfeed articles you inbred, mouth breathing troglodyte.

>mfw trying to explain to my friends why the Torah is a literary masterwork.
If it is then it surely can't be because Moses wrote it, because Moses didn't write it.
>>9685239
Is one person making all the posts like this today? Are you the retard from the meetup thread?
>>9685253
>moses didn't write the pentateuch
Holy fuck, did you figure that out alone?
You must be a real scholar.
Well, maybe you'll have an easier time explaining it to us. Go on, then.
