There have been some popsci books on psychopaths, namely the intelligent ones who don't get caught and end up useful as surgeons, or more destructive as CEOs

You could also search google scholar for the dark triad which includes psychopathy, machiavellianism and narcissism

You could check out life history traits and how that links to the dark triad
